Bill Corgan reveals why he thinks Bill Burr might be his half-brother after podcast mistakenly swaps pics

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In a recent revelation, Billy Corgan disclosed a surprising connection to comedian Bill Burr that he had never shared before. During his November 27 appearance on the 'Howie Mandel Does Stuff' podcast, Corgan was surprised when the production team displayed a photo of Burr behind him.

This unexpected moment prompted the Smashing Pumpkins frontman to suggest that he might be Burr’s half-brother. Corgan also reflected on a conversation he had with his stepmom nearly a decade ago, offering new insights into this intriguing link with the comedian.

During his appearance on the 'Howie Mandel Does Stuff' podcast, Billy Corgan found himself in a humorous moment when an error occurred with the podcast's production team. 

After Howie Mandel welcomed the Smashing Pumpkins frontman, he acknowledged that the wrong picture had been displayed, saying, "Welcome for coming, and somebody just informed me that we have the wrong picture posted behind me, behind me right here." 

When the image turned out to be of Bill Burr, Corgan jokingly responded, "Listen if I had Bill Burr's money, I'm happy to be a Bill Burr. I do have a Bill Burr story if you want to hear it and I've never told it anywhere, in fact most of my friends don't even know this story, if you want?"

Corgan then recalled a conversation he had with his stepmother about ten years ago. "About 10 years ago, one of my brothers was having a birthday party, and my stepmother was there, who was obviously married to my father. " 

Corgan began. "And my stepmother said to me, do you know who Bill Burr is?" At the time, Corgan had never heard of Burr. He recalled, "I didn’t know who he was. I didn’t know he was a comedian or anything. He could have been the guy down the street." 

His stepmother explained at that time, "Well, he’s this comedian." Corgan even searched for a picture of Burr and immediately noticed something familiar, as per Unilad. "Gee, he kind of looks like my father," he said.

He continued, "Bill Burr looks more like my father than Bill Burr looks like me or I look like Bill Burr. So I said to my mother, why are you asking me this?"

She replied, "I think it might be one of your father’s illegitimate children. Bill Burr might be one of the children that your father sired in his days being a traveling musician."

Corgan clarified, "This is a true story, I’m not making this up. There is no joke in this."

Finally, Corgan shared how the revelation seemed to make sense, "So I said to my stepmother, I said 'OK, that sort of works' and I looked at Bill's age and we're a similar age and my father did once tell me that I had a half-brother named Bill who was basically born around the same time as me, he told me on my 18th birthday."
