Bill Maher trolled over his '$140M worth' as he talks about the rich getting richer in clip
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: On an Instagram post shared on December 30, Bill Maher discussed the wealth gap and how the rich continue to accumulate wealth.
Maher criticized the notion that funneling money to the wealthy benefits job creation. He argued that the rich often accumulate wealth by eliminating jobs rather than creating them.
The post's caption read, "How the rich get richer. ...But I'm Not Wrong." He shared a clip from HBO's 'The Decider'.
Maher slams extravagant spending habits of rich people
In disdainful tone, Maher highlighted the extravagant spending habits of the wealthy, such as expensive shower curtains, private jets, gold faucets, and lavish parties. Overall, he criticized the perceived selfishness and excesses of the wealthy class.
The comedian began, "You know this nonsense, "let's give all the money to the rich people. They create jobs". No, they don't! They eliminate jobs. That's how they get richer. They are not interested in creating jobs. They're interested in creating wealth for themselves."
"You read about these pricks with their thousand dollars shower curtains and their private jets and their gold faucets and their antique commodes and the eyes-wide-shut orgies or whatever. I mean there's no end to the bullshit rich f**ks will spend money on," he added.
In the closing line he introduced a humorous exaggeration, suggesting a wealthy person's peculiar habit of scheduling a wine enema at a specific time, stating how the rich would say, "It's 9.00. It's time for my wine enema."
Internet reacts to Bill Maher's critique of rich people
The harsh truth rang true to several fans as they took to the comment section to write, "I love this, Bill!😂🙌😂".
"You’re spot on!! I sadly learned the hard way," said another user.
"Your not wrong! Money and stuff!! That’s all any elected officials want!," said one user.
While some of them were in support of his words, others had a different view.
One user remarked, "Dude, I love you but aren’t you worth like $140 million?"
Another wrote, "Who creates jobs if not the rich people who own businesses? They eliminate jobs when they are taxed and regulated to a point where they can’t afford to employ the people anymore. When given tax breaks they hire and give bonuses. We saw this with the Trump tax cuts."
Another quipped, "Well I never got a job from a poor person. Rich people provided me with a good living. I think you are just jeaous."
One comment read, "Super rich guy acting like he’s just a regular guy."
"I never got a job from someone POORER than myself....ever. The only people who've ever given me a job were more wealthy than me. So idk, logic seems a bit flaky," said another user.
