Bill Murray, 74, finally breaks silence on Kelis, 45, romance rumors: 'That really raised my cred a lot'
CHARLES, SOUTH CAROLINA: After nearly a year of speculation, Bill Murray is finally setting the record straight about those wild rumors linking him to 'Milkshake' singer Kelis.
The 74-year-old comedy legend addressed the speculation about his love life during an interview with 'Sway in the Morning', where he joked about how the alleged romance boosted his reputation, US Weekly reported.

“I met this girl named Kelis. I got great press that I was dating her. That really raised my cred a lot,” Bill Murray said, clearly amused by the speculation.
He admitted he had been captivated by Kelis long before the rumors took off, revealing that he first noticed her in 'Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s 1999 hit 'Got Your Money'.
“I’m going, ‘Who is the girl with the red hair?’ And it was Kelis, so I decided to meet her sometime. She turns out to be spectacular.”
Despite media reports suggesting otherwise, Murray insisted that there was never a romantic relationship between him and the 45-year-old singer, but that doesn’t mean he’s completely shutting the door.
“You know, one of us could be on the rebound at any second,” he teased. “Anything could happen.” The two have stayed in touch, and Murray recently reached out after hearing that Kelis bought land in Kenya.
“She just out there and says, ‘Maybe I’ll move to Africa and start a farm,'” Murray noted.

Rumors about a possible romance between Kelis and Murray began after the singer's husband Mike Mora died in March 2022 following a battle with stomach cancer.
In June 2023, Murray was spotted at Kelis’ London performance at the Mighty Hoopla festival, sparking speculations about their unexpected relationship.
At the time, an anonymous source told the US Sun, “ Whatever brought them together, they are both single and having fun despite the fairly big age gap." When fans pressed Kelis about it on Instagram, she playfully dodged the question and wrote, “LOL no babe, I wouldn’t bother at all.”
Kelis, who was previously married to rapper Nas and later photographer Mike Mora, has largely kept her personal life private. Murray, meanwhile, has been married twice and shares six children with his former wives.
