According to an exclusive insider, the country star has “not been in the best place lately,” dealing with personal and professional struggles, as per People.
Billy Ray Cyrus facing tough times after divorce
“There is a lot of heavy doubt and struggles with personal things, but also career-wise,” the source reveals. “The divorce was heavy for him. He lost faith.”
The 63-year-old musician married Australian singer-songwriter Firerose in October 2023, but their marriage quickly unraveled. By May 2024, Cyrus filed for divorce, citing fraud and requesting an annulment. The contentious split saw both parties making allegations of abuse, which they denied.
Their legal battle ended in August, with Cyrus’ attorneys stating he was “relieved to put this nightmare behind him,” while a source close to Firerose claimed she “chose to walk away” rather than fight for financial support.

Trace Cyrus accused his father, Billy Ray Cyrus, of threatening legal action in response to his public plea for the country singer to seek help. "Dad, my message was beyond loving," Trace wrote. "I could have been extremely honest about a lot more, but I don’t want to put your business out there like that. But for you to threaten me with legal action for wanting you to get help is a disgrace. Pappy is looking down at you with such disappointment, I can assure you."
Trace went on to express his continued love for his father but admitted that he no longer respects him. "You should be ashamed of yourself. I will always love you, but I no longer respect you as a man. Everyone close to you is terrified to tell you how they really feel. I’m not. Get help."
In a follow-up Instagram Story, Trace revealed that Billy Ray had not reached out to him directly but instead contacted a family member to convey his intent to take legal action. "Dad, I live 30 minutes away from you. You could’ve just come & talked to me like a man," he wrote.
Just days before, on January 23, Trace posted a heartfelt message about his father’s well-being and their strained family dynamics.

Billy Ray adopted Trace and his sister, Brandi Cyrus, after marrying their mother, Tish Cyrus, in 1993.
"Sadly, the man that I wanted so desperately to be just like, I barely recognize now. It seems this world has beaten you down, and it’s become obvious to everyone but you."
Trace also claimed that Billy Ray’s estrangement has hurt the youngest Cyrus sibling, Noah.
"Noah desperately has wanted you to be a part of her life and you haven’t even been there for her. That’s your baby girl. She deserves better. Somehow, just like me, she still idolizes you though," Trace wrote.
