PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Mar-a-Lago has seen its fair share of over-the-top displays, but a Trump-themed goat statue wrapped in fake $100 bills, complete with the President’s face and his signature, has some Christians clutching their pearls.

Dubbed the MAGA Goat, the flashy sculpture is part of Project GOAT—which stands for Global Offensive Against Trafficking—a charitable initiative aimed at raising funds to combat child trafficking.

The program, started by Rob and Debbie Canton of Tampa, Florida, features 75-pound goat statues that are auctioned off for the cause.

But while Project GOAT was inspired by a real-life blind and deaf baby goat named Grady, the Trump-themed version, set to hit the auction block on February 27 at Mar-a-Lago, is raising eyebrows among religious folk.

MAGA goat idol at Mar-a-Lago

The golden-hoofed sculpture is covered in phony $100 bills, except these aren’t your average Benjamins. Instead of Franklin’s face, the bills proudly display Donald Trump — with the words “In Trump We Trust” replacing the traditional “In God We Trust.”

The idol-like appearance of the goat—combined with the erasure of God’s name—has ruffled feathers in Christian circles, with critics drawing comparisons to the Biblical golden calf. Many see it as a blatant act of idolatry, a serious offense in Christian teachings.

The left-leaning social media watchdog PatriotTakes wasted no time fanning the flames, sharing multiple photos of the goat display at Mar-a-Lago. "At Mar-a-Lago, a bizarre, golden-hoofed goat idol is on display," the account said. "The idol is wrapped in Trump $100 bills that say, 'In Trump we Trust,' replacing God with Trump."

"The idols' base says, 'I love you' along with Trump's signature," the post noted.

The account continued to post pictures on X of the display on Tuesday.

"This should be on display at every MAGA church," one post said. "New detail: The goat idol at Trump's home has golden private parts," another added.

The pictures went viral and sparked quite a backlash from Trump's critics.

One said, "Burn this."

"Isn’t MAGA big on Christianity? Worshipping greed seems like a big red flag if I were a Christian js," one posted on X.

"Isn’t this sacrilegious on top of idolization? I would expect god-fearing Christians to not be ok with this. But hey what do I know…" another wrote.

"Anybody still doubting whether this is a cult?" someone else asked.

"This is the cultiest s**t I've seen in years," read a comment.

"I’ve read this story before. It doesn’t end well," another chimed in.

Another said, "This is disgusting."

But despite the backlash, Project GOAT creator Rob Canton isn’t fazed.

In an email to Daily Mail, Canton dismissed the outrage and said most people view the goat as a symbol of the “greatest of all time”—including Trump himself.

“I’ve certainly seen a few comments from individuals on social media expressing negative sentiments, but these have all seemed to come from individuals with an axe to grind and a history of being triggered by anything President Trump says or does,” Canton wrote.

Upcoming auction

Canton, for one, is thrilled that Trump signed the piece.

“I’m grateful for the fact that [Trump] took the time to sign and inscribe it, which I believe shows not only his support for the fight against human trafficking but for the great charities that will share in the proceeds including Big Dog Ranch Rescue and The Hometown Foundation," he told the press.

The live auction at Mar-a-Lago will determine just how much a Trump-themed golden goat is worth. But whether it sells for a fortune or not, the sculpture is already one of the most controversial Trump memorabilia pieces yet.

Virginia farmer and policy adviser Martha Boneta Fain — who frequents Mar-a-Lago — also shared pictures posing with the goat on social media and posted about the upcoming auction.
