WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump claimed that “African-American ladies.. beautiful ladies” are begging him to send federal troops into Chicago after his much-criticized militarized flex in Washington DC earlier this month.

The president painted a very specific picture from the Oval Office on Friday.

“They are wearing red hats, just like this one. But they are wearing red hats. African American ladies, beautiful ladies are saying, Please, President Trump, come to Chicago, please,” he boasted.

“I did great with the Black vote, as you know. And they want something to happen. So I think Chicago will be our next, and then we will help with New York.”

At least one Chicago conservative thinks Trump wasn’t just speaking hypothetically.

Black MAGA influencer applauds Trump

Danielle Carter-Walters, a Chicago personal trainer and co-founder of the group Chicago Flips Red, told the Chicago Sun-Times she instantly recognized herself in Trump’s words.

“We knew he had been listening to us,” she said Sunday. “When I saw it, I said, ‘Oh wow.’ We’ve been asking for it in our videos. Now he’s doing it.”

Carter-Walters defended Trump’s federal muscle in DC. “I mean, if you've got the National Guard right there, are you going to rob somebody right there in front of the National Guard? No, you're not," she told CBS Chicago.

Her grassroots outfit is small with just about half a dozen core members, but Carter-Walters has made it to the national stage before. Back in April, she testified before Congress during a hearing on sanctuary cities.

Trump has never mentioned her by name, but she wasn’t shy about seizing the moment.

“Thank you @realDonaldTrump for listening to @FlipChicagoRed. We truly appreciate everything you’re doing to Make America Great Again. P.S.-Please send in the Feds too!” she posted on X after his Oval Office comments.

Pentagon plans and Trump’s authority

The President declared his Washington deployment a success, even though the biggest spike in D.C. arrests has been for immigration-related violations. Still, reports suggest the Pentagon is eyeing Chicago for a September deployment.

Trump insists he can legally conduct “takeovers” of American cities outside DC, something constitutional experts might want a word about. Meanwhile, the Washington Post says Guard troops left in DC have mostly been milling around and snapping selfies with tourists.

On Friday, Trump’s Chicago threat was followed by fresh attacks on Lisa Cook, the only Black member of the Fed’s Board of Governors, and Wes Moore, the only Black governor in the country. He also turned down Moore’s invitation to visit Baltimore.

Not surprisingly, Trump’s talk of storming Chicago drew the ire of Illinois leaders.

Pushback for Trump from Chicago

Governor JB Pritzker shot back on X, “Illinois has long worked with federal law enforcement to tackle crime, but we won't let a dictator impose his will.”

Lt Governor Julianna Stratton added, “If Trump wants to take his ego trip on tour, he picked the wrong city. Chicago doesn’t bow down to kings or roll out the red carpet for dictators. As a Black woman from the South Side, I can assure you @realdonaldtrump, your political circus isn’t welcome here.”

Mayor Brandon Scott doubled down during an MSNBC interview on Sunday.

"We're not gonna surrender our humanity to this tyrant,” he declared. “The city of Chicago has a long history of standing up against tyranny-- resisting those who wishes [sic] to undermine the interest of working people. We're not gonna back down. We're not gonna cower. We're not gonna bend. We're not gonna break. We're Chicago."
