Blake Lively loses legal bid to prevent Justin Baldoni from accessing her private texts to Taylor Swift

NEW YORK, NEW YORK: Pop superstar Taylor Swift is now officially part of the legal firestorm surrounding the production of ‘It Ends With Us’, after a federal judge ruled Wednesday, June 18, that actor-director Justin Baldoni can access communications between Swift and actress Blake Lively.
The decision comes amid an escalating legal dispute that centers on alleged harassment and retaliation on the film’s set, reports Page Six.

Judge grants Justin Baldoni access to Blake Lively–Taylor Swift texts

US District Judge Lewis Liman determined that messages between the two friends if related to the film or the ongoing legal case are fair game in the discovery process.
The court’s ruling stems from Lively herself identifying Swift as someone likely to have insight into conversations or concerns about the production environment.
Lively’s legal team had requested a protective order to keep those messages off-limits, arguing they were irrelevant and potentially invasive. However, Judge Liman dismissed that request, writing that the communications “are reasonably tailored to discover information that would prove or disprove Lively’s harassment and retaliation claims.”

The judge emphasized that only messages pertaining directly to the movie or the litigation would be included.
Blake Lively used Taylor Swift and Ryan Reynolds to pressure Justin Baldoni into approving script revision

The legal tension between Lively and Baldoni intensified last year during a creative standoff over a rooftop scene early in the movie.
According to Baldoni, he was invited to Lively’s New York home in 2023 for a meeting about potential script changes. Upon arrival, he was reportedly surprised to find both Swift and Lively’s husband, actor Ryan Reynolds, present.
Baldoni alleges that during that gathering, both Swift and Reynolds endorsed Lively’s vision for the rewritten scene and pressured him to approve it. He claims their influence created an unfair dynamic, ultimately leading to a hostile working relationship. Communications that reference “Taylor” are cited in Baldoni’s revised complaint as part of the pressure campaign.
Lively, meanwhile, has accused Baldoni of fostering a toxic environment on set, including acts of retaliation when she challenged his creative decisions. The actress’s legal team previously offered to turn over all requested documents minus the Swift messages if Baldoni’s side would share complete video footage and unredacted internal communications tied to the case. That offer was declined.

According to Baldoni’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, text messages between his client and Blake Lively revealed that she referred to Taylor Swift and Ryan Reynolds, 48, as her “dragons.”
“The message could not have been clearer,” Freedman said. “Baldoni was not just dealing with Lively. He was also facing Lively’s ‘dragons,’ two of the most influential and wealthy celebrities in the world, who were not afraid to make things very difficult for him.”
Swift found herself unexpectedly caught up in the legal clash between Baldoni and Lively earlier this year which has been dismissed now.
Internet buzzing after Justin Baldoni obtains Taylor Swift and Blake Lively’s texts amid legal drama

The news that Justin Baldoni has obtained private text messages exchanged between longtime friends Taylor Swift and Blake Lively has triggered a storm of speculation and reactions online.
One user commented bluntly, “Good. I love it. The best win for Baldoni is to cause havoc between Lively and Swift. Lively definitely regrets playing this game at the expense of her friendship with Swift.”
Another chimed in with a Taylor Swift lyrical nod, “Good for Justin. Ruh-roh for Blake. Sounds like you and Taylor are never, ever, ever getting back together.”
Others slammed Lively for her alleged role in the situation, “Lively is a friend to no one. Her dragons. Sounds like junior high.”
“BL, you will NEVER regain your relationship with Miss Swift. As you never should. Terrible friend. Horrible,” one wrote.
Speculation about the fallout continued to swirl, “I doubt that Blake Lively will be walking hand in hand with Taylor Swift anytime soon.”
“Waiting for Blake's team to PR spin or deflect from this … let me guess ‘it’s an attack on women’,” another commented.
