Blake Lively reveals her next movie 'It Ends with Us' features close friend Taylor Swift's song
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Blake Lively has shared the connection between her upcoming movie and her close friend Taylor Swift.
The 36-year-old’s next release ‘It Ends with Us’ is based on Colleen Hoover’s novel and its official trailer features Swift’s hit song ‘My Tears Ricochet.’
“Them together made a lot of sense,” explained Lively during a recent Q&A panel for Book Bonanza. It is an annual event co-founded by Hoover.
The essence of Taylor Swift's song in the movie
The 2020 track, which was produced by Jack Antanoff and then-boyfriend Joe Alwyn, is about a dead woman’s cry who haunts her murderer.

“I didn't have it in myself to go with grace / And so the battleships will sink beneath the waves / You had to kill me, but it killed you just the same,” the lyrics stated.
Lively shared that the song is perfect for her character in the movie who faces a cycle of domestic abuse.
“Colleen is able to tell something that’s deeply personal and intimate but is able to resonate with so many people,” explained The ‘A Simple Favor’ star.
“And Taylor, she’s such an incredible writer. She writes from such personal experiences and vulnerability,” she added.
Both Hoover and Swift are linked as “women who are authoring their stories,” Lively added.
“What Taylor’s done with her life and career,” she further said.
Meanwhile, Hoover added, “started [her novelist career] self-published.”
Lively spoke about her closeness with her character of Lily Bloom as she said, “It’s important to love the character you’re playing and to understand her and just feel her heart and soul.”
She added that “every single person in this movie is a revelation.”
Back in April, Lively told People, "Lily resonated with an enormous amount of people, as the success of the book made clear… Stepping into a character who’s had such a meaningful impact is an honor to take on."
‘It Ends With Us’ adapted for the screen by Christy Hall, co-stars Jenny Slate, Brandon Sklenar, Isabela Ferrer, Alex Neustaedter, Amy Morton, and Hasan Minhaj, and will be out in theaters on August 9.
