Inside the video that sparked the controversy
The video, released by Justin Baldoni’s lawyer Bryan Freedman, allegedly shows behind-the-scenes interactions between Lively, 37, and Baldoni, 40, during the filming of 'It Ends With Us.'
Lively has accused Baldoni of harassment during the filming of a dance scene, citing unsolicited physical contact and inappropriate comments.
Baldoni and his legal team, however, argue that the footage disproves her claims and portrays a friendly and professional dynamic.
The leaked footage, exclusively shared by Daily Mail, shows three takes of a romantic scene between Lively and Baldoni.
The audio captures conversations between the two about lighting, their spouses, and even a joke about Baldoni’s nose.
In one segment, Baldoni comments, “It smells good” after Lively mentions her spray tan.
Baldoni’s team claims this proves his comment was innocent and contextual while Lively’s team argues the footage highlights her discomfort, particularly during unscripted physical gestures.
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds accuse Justin Baldoni’s legal team of misconduct
In a letter filed on Tuesday, January 21, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds requested a protective order against Justin Baldoni’s attorneys, accusing them of orchestrating a “harassing and retaliatory media campaign.”
The couple claims Bryan Freedman violated court rules by releasing the footage and making statements irrelevant to the case, potentially influencing public opinion and prejudicing a jury.
Lively’s legal team asserted that Baldoni’s actions were not choreographed or consensual, according to TMZ.
“Every moment of this was improvised by Mr Baldoni with no prior discussion or an intimacy coordinator present,” her lawyers said in a statement.
They allege that Lively’s visible discomfort in the footage reflects her attempts to deflect unwanted advances.
Justin Baldoni’s defense and counterclaims
Justin Baldoni's team has pushed back strongly against the accusations made by Blake Lively.
His team argued that releasing the video was a necessary step to counter what they describe as a defamatory “takedown campaign” by Lively.
“All Justin wants is to release videos and text messages to prove the allegations are false,” a source close to Baldoni told Daily Mail.
Freedman has stated that Baldoni has “nothing to hide” and criticized attempts to impose a gag order as unfair.
Baldoni has also filed a $400 million lawsuit against Lively and Reynolds, accusing them of using their celebrity influence to damage his career and reputation.
Lively’s team emphasized the broader impact of her allegations, stating, “Any woman who has been inappropriately touched in the workplace will recognize Ms Lively’s discomfort.”
