Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick reunite on the red carpet

The highly anticipated follow-up to their 2018 film, 'A Simple Favor', has been making headlines not only for its stylish mystery-thriller plot but also for the rumored rift between its leading ladies.

Despite months of speculation regarding a supposed feud, Blake Lively spoke positively about her reunion with Anna Kendrick.

In a video posted by Entertainment Tonight on X, Lively was seen interacting with fans when she was asked about working with Kendrick again.

“Oh, it’s the best! I’m so happy,” Lively responded cheerfully before continuing to take photos and sign autographs.

While both actresses appeared at the premiere, Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick notably avoided posing for photos together.

In a now-viral red carpet image, director Paul Feig was strategically positioned between them, reinforcing speculation that their working relationship may be strictly professional.

Feig, known for directing 'Bridesmaids', attempted to dispel any rumors by praising both actresses in interviews.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, he stated, “Blake’s awesome. I love Blake. I love working with Anna, I love working with Blake, and that’s all I can say. She is a great collaborator. I just love working with her.”

He later told People, “I mean, I had such a great experience on the first one. It always kind of stuck with me. God, I love working with the two of them, as well as the rest of the cast.”

Despite Feig’s diplomatic stance, fans and experts pointed out subtle yet telling cues.

Body language analyst Judi James told Daily Mail that Feig “seems to have been enlisted as a handy ‘air bag’ buffer between them.”

She further noted that while Lively’s posture appeared more relaxed, Kendrick seemed less assured, with her body language suggesting discomfort.

Anna Kendrick’s cryptic comments add to the drama

Adding to the speculation, Anna Kendrick made an eyebrow-raising remark during the South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Festival in Austin when asked about the ongoing legal battle between Blake Lively and 'It Ends With Us' co-star and director Justin Baldoni.

Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni in December, accusing him of assault and orchestrating a smear campaign against her.

Reports have suggested that Kendrick is frustrated with the way the controversy is overshadowing their film.

When a Variety reporter asked Kendrick how Another Simple Favor had been affected by “everything going on in the world,” she sidestepped the question with a sarcastic remark, “Why, what happened? I did ayahuasca, and the last year of my life is just gone.”

Her flippant response, followed by a quick departure, did little to quell the rumors and instead intensified speculation that she may be distancing herself from the drama surrounding her co-star.
