Blake Lively silent on Taylor Swift's engagement, quits trying to fix decade-long friendship

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Taylor Swift’s engagement to NFL star Travis Kelce sparked a flood of public congratulations from her A-list friends, but Blake Lively, once one of her closest confidantes, stayed silent, signaling a friendship that has all but collapsed.

Supermodels Gigi Hadid and Cara Delevingne rushed to share their support, and even Karlie Kloss, once estranged from Swift, liked her Instagram post announcing the proposal.

Yet Lively, who counts Swift as the godmother to her daughters, made no move to reconnect, and sources said she had no plans to.

Blake Lively ends efforts to repair friendship with Taylor Swift

An insider told the Daily Mail that Lively has accepted the end of her decade-long bond with Swift, which soured earlier this year after the pop star was unwillingly drawn into Lively’s legal battle with actor Justin Baldoni.

“Blake didn't reach out [following the engagement announcement] and isn't going to,” the source said. “This isn't the time. What would be the point of reaching out now? It really makes no sense. [Lively] has bigger fish to fry.”

Back in June, sources said Lively had repeatedly tried to “reach out” through texts, voicemails, and emails, but Swift had reportedly gone silent. Now, Lively has given up trying and no longer discusses Swift with friends.

“This is something that we would've talked about in the past, like what was going to happen, if she was going to be in the wedding, what that would look like. All of that. But now, it's just silence,” the insider added.

While the absence of a message from Lively drew attention, the pop star’s engagement was otherwise met with overwhelming support from her circle. Friends and fans flooded Swift’s social media with messages of love and excitement over Travis Kelce’s proposal.

Sources close to Lively emphasized that she is not “sitting home obsessing about Taylor getting engaged” because “she’s got her own life to focus on.”

The actress remains embroiled in an ongoing legal dispute with Baldoni, accusing him of a “smear campaign” that left her “terrified” for her life, according to newly unsealed court documents. However, Baldoni has denied her claims.
