Blake Shelton returns to TV with new singing show after 'The Voice' exit but trolls say 'not another one'
NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE: Blake Shelton is ready to tread on a new road again, just over a year after he bid farewell to the uber-popular ‘The Voice’.
After gracing the prestigious red chair of ‘The Voice’ coach for 23 seasons, the 48-year-old country star is embarking on a new journey through his association with CBS’ upcoming program, tentatively titled ‘The Road’.
The ‘God’s Country’ singer is taking the mantle of an executive producer for the CBS program lined up for fall 2025.
Blake Shelton is teaming up with Taylor Sheridan
For the upcoming project, Blake Shelton is teaming up with ‘Yellowstone’ creator Taylor Sheridan, who will also be serving as an executive producer along with Lee Metzger, and David Glasser. The reality show will follow the journeys of young and hopeful singers who will compete with each other to feature in the opening act of a renowned singer on tour.
The 10-time CMA winner, who announced his exit from ‘The Voice’ last year, gushed about Sheridan in a press release and said, “I’m a big fan of Taylor’s incredible work, and I’m excited to team with him and my long-time collaborator, Lee, on The Road," per Entertainment Weekly.
“I know a thing or two about singing competitions and what it’s like to chase a music dream and live life on tour,” he added, before revealing his dream regarding the upcoming show, “I’m looking forward to discovering new talent and giving them this platform.”
Shelton, who has served the role of ‘The Voice’ coach for 12 years, coached nine contestants - including Cassadee Pope, Danielle Bradbery, Craig Wayne Boyd, and Bryce Leatherwood - into winning the title.
Sheridan, too, opened up about the show’s format, noting, “There is a revolution taking place in country music. Building a platform with Blake for the next leaders of that revolution is an incredibly exciting venture.”
The upcoming show will also give behind-the-scenes footage of a tour and a sneak peek of the proverbial life on the road.
“No more shiny floors and studio audiences. This is where the rubber meets the road — literally. Get in the van, go to the next town and win the crowd. Do it enough, and you become the next leader. Simple as that,” gushed Sheridan in the press release.
