Melina Abdullah labels Taylor Swift's fans as 'racists'

Fox News reported that a California professor, known for her controversial viewpoints, stirred up a controversy by suggesting that being a fan of Swift might be a sign of racism.

The professor in question, Melina Abdullah, raised eyebrows when she pondered on X, "Why do I feel like it’s slightly racist to be a Taylor Swift fan?" Abdullah teaches Pan-African Studies at California State University, Los Angeles.

She is also recognized as a co-founder of Black Lives Matter’s Los Angeles chapter and co-director of the activist wing of Black Lives Matter Grassroots.

As per Fox News, following her comments targeting the 'Lover' singer, Abdullah took to X again to comment on Swift's boyfriend Travis Kelce's Kansas City Chiefs' Super Bowl victory, suggesting, "Why do I feel like this was some right-wing, white-supremacist conspiracy?!?! Booooooo!!!! #SuperBowl."

Abdullah's provocative tweets sparked a flurry of discussion. However, when approached by Fox News for further clarification, Abdullah did not immediately respond.

Abdullah is no stranger to stirring up trouble. Back in 2022, she grabbed headlines by delivering a message to white people, stating they weren't invited to Juneteenth festivities. She posted on X, "Attention white people… Please don’t ask if you can come to the cookout… #Juneteenth is freedom day for Black folks. It should be #Reparations day for white folks."

Internet calls Melina Abdullah's claims 'ridiculous'

Numerous social media users were left baffled by Abdullah's remarks on Swift and took to Facebook to slam the professor for her troubling statements.

A user wrote, "This professor is deranged, need to see a licensed therapist, soon."

Another said, "People are getting ridiculous!!!"

A user commented, "Proof positive that holding an advanced degree does not make a person intelligent."

Someone else noted, "Get rid of the crazies that were put in place in schools, mayor offices,DAoffices with their crazy ideology beliefs!!!!!!! Tell them your fired..."

A user stated, "Some people don’t need to exist and this professor is one of them."
