WASHINGTON, DC: Olympic women’s bobsled champion Kaillie Humphries presented an Order of Ikkos medal to President Donald Trump on Thursday, March 12, as part of the celebration of Women’s History Month at the White House.
Humphries, a six-time Olympic medalist in bobsled, grew emotional as she shared her pride in becoming a mother through IVF, crediting policies enacted during Trump’s presidency for making it possible.

Humphries praised Trump for supporting women’s sports and creating policies that help families access IVF treatments.
“I want to recognize the support and impact you've had on women's sports throughout the Olympic movement, specifically standing up to keep biological women in women's sports,” the 40-year-old said as she honored Trump with the medal. “Your policies are also creating greater access to IVF, so families like mine can grow. I believe this makes you the first president in history to receive an Order of Ikkos.”
Trump responded, “I knew I liked her.” Olympic athletes can give an Olympic Order of Ikkos medal to someone who helped them succeed.
She gave birth to her son, Aulden, in June 2024, after two-and-a-half years of IVF treatments following a stage IV endometriosis diagnosis in 2021.
Who is Kaillie Humphries?
Humphries, a Canadian-born athlete who became a naturalized US citizen, made her Olympic debut for Canada at the 2010 Vancouver Games. She also competed for Canada in 2014 and 2018 before joining Team USA in 2019. She became a US citizen in 2021, five years after moving to the country with her husband, Travis Armbruster, in 2016.
At the 2026 Winter Olympics, Humphries won bronze in the women’s monobob on February 16, while Team USA’s Elana Meyers Taylor took gold. She then teamed with Jasmine Jones in the two-woman bobsled on February 21 to win her second bronze at the Milano-Cortina Games.
Kaillie Humphries takes pride in winning two bronze medals as a mother
Humphries said winning medals for her adopted country was a huge honor. It felt even more special because she achieved it as a mother, despite being told she could never get back into the mental and physical shape needed to medal.
“The ultimate dream I had was to become a mom and then be able to stand on the Olympic podium,” she said during the Women's History Month event.
She added, “This year I got to do that with my one-and-a-half-old-son. Being able to earn these two bronze medals, they feel like gold. They really do. He is my gold medal and will always be for my entire life.”
“Having my one-year-old son chase me around the Olympic podium, another huge honor and a dream come true. I want to encourage every single mother out there to follow your dreams and don’t let anybody put limits on what you believe you can do,” Humphries emphasized.
