Erika Kirk marks first Father’s Day without Charlie Kirk: 'Our two babies carry pieces of you'
WASHINGTON, DC: Turning Point USA CEO Erika Kirk marked the first Father’s Day since the death of her husband, political activist Charlie Kirk, sharing an emotional tribute that reflected on his role as a father and the legacy he left behind for the family.
In a message posted on Instagram on Sunday, June 22, Erika said she continues to write letters to her late husband and thanked him for the life they built together. The post comes more than nine months after Charlie Kirk was fatally shot while speaking at a Utah college campus event in September 2025.
Erika Kirk reflects on Charlie Kirk’s legacy as husband and father
Erika described continuing a personal tradition of writing letters to her husband even after his death, saying she intends to do so for the rest of her life. “It’s Father’s Day, I still wrote you your letter (I will for the rest of my life). GG has it waiting for you by your coffee mug. I’ll save them all for our son when he gets older,” she wrote.
The tribute accompanied a behind-the-scenes video of Charlie Kirk at Turning Point USA’s AmFest 2024 event and focused largely on his role within the family. Erika said both she and the couple’s children continue to feel his absence while expressing gratitude for the example he set.
“They miss you. I miss you. I just can’t help but thank you endlessly today. Thank you for loving us so well. Thank you for making me a wife and a mother. Thank you for our two precious babies that carry pieces of you with them,” she wrote.
Erika also thanked her late husband for his devotion to the family and for what she described as the sacrifices he made throughout his life.
“Thank you for living your life in such a way to be an incredible example to other Fathers. Thank you for all the sacrifices you’ve made. You will forever be an extraordinary father. Forever.”
The post concluded with a remembrance of one of Charlie Kirk’s favorite public appearances, referencing his walkout at AmFest 2024.
“Today in our hearts we celebrate you like your favorite TPUSA AmFest 2024 walkout. You’d always say more fog, more sparklers, more bass, and then next with the babies in our arms walking off stage.”
Family continues to mourn as murder case moves forward
Charlie Kirk was fatally shot on September 10, 2025, while speaking at an event on the campus of Utah Valley University. He was 31 years old and is survived by Erika and their two children.
Authorities later announced that a 22-year-old Utah man, Tyler Robinson, had surrendered in connection with the shooting and was subsequently charged with aggravated murder and other offenses. Prosecutors have said they intend to seek the death penalty if a conviction is secured.
Following her husband’s death, Erika Kirk assumed a larger public role, later becoming CEO of Turning Point USA. The defendant has not entered a plea, and court proceedings remain ongoing.
