Body language expert claims Kate Middleton appeared 'sad but regal' at Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday
LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM: The manner in which Kate Middleton carried herself at the Remembrance Sunday Service indicated her return to a "regal" form after battling with cancer, body language expert Judi James told the Daily Mail on Sunday, November 10.
The public appearance by the Princess of Wales at the Cenotaph was reportedly her most prominent undertaking since the announcement of her cancer diagnosis earlier this year. According to the publication, Kate maintained a "somber yet stoic" expression at the event which honors the lives lost to war.
Judi James' reading of Kate Middleton's body language
Judi James claimed that Kate Middleton had impressive control over her emotions, and presented herself in a way fit for the future queen of England.
"Kate’s body language and even her styling today showed a return to what looked like full regal form," she stated. "Her facial expression became somber once we heard the chimes of Big Ben and there was a more contained version of her clearly emotional signaling that we saw at the concert the evening before."
The concert that James referred to was the Festival of Remembrance that Kate attended with Prince William at the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday evening.
"Then she appeared tearful, but here her sadness registered with a fiercely regal look of stoic reflection," noted James, adding that her attire comprising a military-style jacket with epaulets and a velour bow and dramatic headwear enhanced the "regal" appearance.
"Even her fascinator and the way she wore her hair swept up looked like a re-run of one of her most iconic 'regal' moments when she was photographed in the car, in her Covid face mask, at Philip’s funeral, looking fiercely elegant and regal and so much like a future queen," shared James.
Kate Middleton was supported by the Duchess of Edinburg
In the absence of Queen Camilla, who is recovering from a chest infection, Kate Middleton was accompanied by Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh on the balcony at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office when King Charles led the wreath-laying alongside the Prince of Wales and the Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer.
With Sophie by her side, Kate appeared more relaxed as she occupied the central position on the balcony in full public view.
"She was seen chatting and smiling gently with Sophie on the balcony and, with Camilla not attending, she appeared to move into central position with Sophie standing to her side, with relaxed-looking confidence," said James. She also believed that the wife of Prince Edward made a "very telling-looking gesture" by placing a supportive had on Kate's back at one point.
"That simple hand gesture showed Sophie’s dual role today," elaborated James. "She is always the royal who brings a sense of calm and support to some of the most emotionally charged royal occasions."
