WASHINGTON, DC: During an interview with Fox News on Sunday, March 31, former President Donald Trump said that he 'wouldn't give them 10 cents' when asked about Mexican president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador's interview with CBS.

Trump joined 'One Nation' host Brian Kilmeade who asked him, "On ‘60 Minutes', the president of Mexico says, 'We're not going to shut down our border until you change your policy on Cuba and change your policy on Venezuela.' Is it OK for the Mexican president to dictate American policy?"

Trump says he wouldn't give even '10 cents' to Mexican president

Replying to the question, Trump answered, "Well, he said much more than that. He said he wants $10 billion essentially just to talk, $10 billion to talk, and that's come out since, and no, that wouldn't happen with me, with the wall."

Kilmeade further asked, "What changed?" to which Trump replied, "It's very simple: lack of respect for the president. They would never say that to me. They would never say before we even talk. They want $10 billion a year, Mexico just asked for $10 billion a year. They would never ask it. I wouldn't give them 10 cents."

Notably, in the '60 Minutes' interview, Lopez Obrador reiterated the demands he had made of the Biden administration back in January in exchange for the Mexican government's assistance in stopping the flood of undocumented immigrants.

These demands included the abolition of sanctions against Cuba and Venezuela, the transfer of $20 billion in aid annually to Latin American and Caribbean nations, and the grant of legal status to undocumented immigrants from Mexico who were already in the country illegally.

Judge Juan Merchan scheduled Trump's criminal trial to begin on April 15, which would make it the first criminal prosecution of a former American president. Trump was charged with 34 counts of falsifying business records last year, which prosecutors say was an effort to hide a potential sex scandal, both before and after the 2016 election. Moreover, according to the Mexican president, "the flow of migrants will continue" unless the United States accedes to his requests.

In conclusion, Trump said, "The most important day in the history of our country is going to be November 5th. Our country is going bad, and it's going to be changed on November 5th, and if it's not changed, we're not going to have a country anymore."

Internet reacts to Trump's statement on Mexico

Many social media users agreed with Trump's statement and chimed in on social media with their support.

A user posted on X, "Things would be better with Trump. Mexico wouldn’t be putting these kinds of demands on DJT! They would know better!" while one added, "The boss has spoken."

A user also wrote, "A penny maybe? And then close the border.

Another mentioned, "That’s what a real US president should react!"

A person also wrote, "Exactly the answer we expect from our leader. Where did this Mexican President get the idea he could 'demand' this in the first place? That's an intriguing question in and of itself."
