NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's former New Orleans residence has been sold at auction for $2.8 million, a small portion of its initial listed price, amid their protracted legal struggle.

The 7,703-square-foot property in the famous French Quarter of New Orleans was purchased by the Hollywood couple in 2006 and they sold it in 2016—shortly after Jolie filed for divorce.

The French Quarter property was put up for auction in December 2023, drawing in 12 bidders before being purchased for just under $3 million. The initial bid was $1 million.

7,703-square-foot French Quarter property was built in the 1830s

The residence was built in the 1830s and was previously owned by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen. The house features five full bathrooms, two half bathrooms, and seven bedrooms. Moreover, there are marble mantles, hardwood flooring, and a grand winding staircase.

In addition to an outdoor pool and fountain, the property has a workshop, an elevator, a home gym, and a chef's kitchen. The property also has a three-story guest house and a gated driveway with gas lamps.

The house was owned by Pitt and Jolie for more than a decade. The former couple lived there while working with Pitt's charity, the Make It Right Foundation, which he founded in 2007 to help repair homes damaged by Hurricane Katrina.

The mansion only received about half of what was initially requested, despite its magnificence and rich history—which includes its famous occupants.

Interluxe Auctions president and CEO Scott Kirk told Fox Business, "The property sold at auction for a total price of $2,800,000. It was recently listed at $3.25 million when Interluxe became involved, which represents a list/sell ratio of 86%."

Compared to the $5.35 million original listing price, this represents a considerable devaluation.

The residence was declared the winner of the nationwide HGTV Ultimate House Hunt in the Downtown Dwellings division in 2024.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's divorce battle continues

Within a year of getting together on the set of 'Mr and Mrs Smith', the former couple, dubbed "Brangelina", bought the New Orleans house, per Daily Mail. The couple dated for over 10 years before getting married in 2014.

The reason behind the dramatic legal struggle between the two celebrities—which has lasted for years—is Jolie's plan to sell her share of the French vineyard in 2021, which they bought together in 2008.

Pitt first asserted that she had made the deal behind his back and that his former partner was attempting to "undermine" his investment and "intentionally harm" the company's reputation.

In the meantime, the former Hollywood couple have been embroiled in a contentious custody dispute involving their six children.

The former pair is parents to six children: Maddox, adopted by Jolie from Cambodia in 2002, Zahara, adopted from an Ethiopian orphanage in 2005, and Pax. Shiloh and the twins Vivienne and Knox are their biological children.
