PENNSYLVANIA: Mama Mary Schmucker, a beloved figure from 'Breaking Amish', has died at age 65 after a prolonged fight with colon cancer.

The reality TV star, known for her warmth and wisdom, died at her Pennsylvania home on March 28, her son Andrew Schmucker confirmed to TMZ.

Mary first captured viewers’ hearts in 2012 during 'Breaking Amish's debut season and later became a cornerstone of its spinoff, 'Return to Amish'. The show chronicled her life as she navigated the tensions between traditional Amish customs and the modern world.

In March 2022, she announced her departure from reality TV, citing personal reasons.

While she expressed interest in sharing an update on life after the show, she noted that producers weren’t keen on that idea. Just a month later, she revealed her colon cancer diagnosis.

Following surgery in April 2022, optimism briefly surfaced when doctors believed they had removed all cancerous tissue. However, Schmucker’s health steadily declined, and by late 2024, she had entered hospice care.

In one of the last updates shared by her daughter-in-law, Rebecca Schmucker, Mary’s condition was described as severe, with increasing pain and difficulty eating.
