'Bridgerton’ showrunner reveals why Pitbull hit ‘Give Me Everything’ works perfectly for carriage scene
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Pitbull is finally a part of the 'Bridgerton' family. The series has welcomed the use of an instrumental version of his 2011 song 'Give Me Everything' during the carriage scene in the latest episode of Netflix’s hit period drama.
Nicola Coughlan plays Penelope Featherington in the hit television series. Penelope is a young woman negotiating the Regency London marriage market and her affection for her friend Colin Bridgerton aka Luke Newton.
Since its first season in 2020, Bridgerton has regularly featured string versions of pop songs by Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, and Ariana Grande for scenes set in ballrooms, and grand estates, and, in this time it's all about Pitbull's song used in carriage scene.
Jess Brownell says Pitbull song 'works perfectly' for carriage scene
Talking to Variety, showrunner Jess Brownell revealed that the song by Pitbull was in fact her choice. She said, “I didn’t pick a lot of the songs, but I weirdly picked the Pitbull song," adding "I never thought I would pick a Pitbull song for a sexy moment, but the build of it just works perfectly.”
Although the song was not written into the script, as Jess heard the Archer March rendition she thought it was "a really sexy adaptation of the song.” She went on saying, “It’s a tricky balance because you hope that people aren’t taken out of the scene by going like, ‘Wait a second, it’s Pitbull?!’”
The lyrics of the song include when Pitbull sings, "I’ma make you feel so good, tonight / Cause we might not get tomorrow," which mirrors the words of Penelope's inner monologue.
