LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Britney Spears has once again sparked widespread concern, this time over a viral video allegedly showing her driving erratically through Los Angeles traffic. However, the pop icon insists it wasn’t her behind the wheel.

The 'Toxic' singer took to Instagram on Saturday to share a cryptic message apparently addressing the footage. “If anyone is wondering the lookalike was not me…🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤓,” she wrote.

The post came just hours after footage of Spears’ car allegedly swerving into bike lanes, crossing the center divider, and making a screeching U-turn outside Red-O restaurant in Thousand Oaks, California, on Thursday night surfaced online.

While Spears didn’t directly reference the incident, her followers quickly drew a connection between the viral clip and her Instagram denial.

The 43-year-old Grammy winner, known for her candid and sometimes cryptic social media posts, doubled down with a follow-up message expressing frustration over media scrutiny.

“I don’t feel respected at all by the most unbelievably horrible things being said about me,” she wrote in another post. The singer said she hasn’t felt “inspired or motivated AT ALL to show new art,” though she later shared a throwback video of herself painting, a nod to her earlier posts about finding peace through creativity. Spears also shared a selfie in a bright pink swimsuit, continuing her tradition of uploading personal content despite public backlash.

Family fears Britney Spears’ breakdown amid growing concern

According to the Daily Mail, those close to Spears fear she is “losing control" and are increasingly alarmed by her behavior. A family source told the outlet that relatives are terrified by what they’re seeing and have begun crisis talks over how to intervene. “There’s a lot of concern. … It’s terrifying,” the insider said. “There’s a lot of talk about what to do, if anything. How can we protect her from herself.”

The report adds that Spears’ family believes her recent erratic behavior may have been triggered by renewed public attention surrounding her ex-husband Kevin Federline’s memoir, 'You Thought You Knew,' which details their tumultuous marriage and divorce.

Britney Spears slams Kevin Federline’s memoir amid backlash

Federline’s book accuses Spears of infidelity and drug use during their marriage, claims she vehemently denies.

“The constant gaslighting from [my] ex-husband is extremely hurtful and exhausting,” Spears wrote on X. “Those white lies in that book, they are going straight to the bank and I am the only one who genuinely gets hurt here.” A spokesperson for Spears called Federline’s memoir a blatant attempt to profit off her name, saying it “adds salt to old wounds.”

Despite the backlash, Spears’ loyal fanbase has continued to flood her posts with messages of support, even though her Instagram comments remain turned off.

Since the termination of her 13-year conservatorship in 2021, Spears has used social media to reclaim her narrative, often sharing unfiltered glimpses of her life. However, the latest controversy and her family’s renewed concerns highlight the fragile balance between her freedom and ongoing public scrutiny.
