Britney Spears slammed for charging over $1K for Balenciaga merch collab: 'These prices are gross'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Britney Spears is back in the fashion spotlight, this time with Balenciaga.
But some loyal supporters say the new merch is now too expensive for them.
Britney Spears ‘so honored and excited' by Demna Gvasalia’s farewell line
The singer’s limited merchandise launched on June 3, but shoppers found the prices on basic streetwear to be "unreal".

The collaboration, designed by creative director Demna Gvasalia for his farewell collection at the House, features archival images of Spears and a Spotify playlist billed as personally curated by the pop icon.
Balenciaga’s website positions the drop as a salute to “a global cultural icon who shaped the sound and style of pop music”.

Spears echoed that sentiment in a statement issued to People, saying, “I have always loved fashion and was so honored and excited Balenciaga and Demna chose to collaborate with me on Demna's last collection with the House,” Spears said per Daily Mail.
Britney Spears says collab reflects 'amazing time in my career'
The 43-year-old added that the prints take her back to a defining era of her career.
“I hope my fans love it as much as I do! These are some of my favorite images from such an amazing time in my career and life, and I'm so excited to share it with everyone,” Spears added.
Archival shots by Steven Klein and Rankin feature on $795 “shrunken” tees, $1,050 oversized ones, $725–$1,250 caps, and a $1,650 hoodie.
The line dropped worldwide alongside two remixes of Spears’ hits by producer BFRND.
Notably, Demna Gvasalia is set to depart Balenciaga next month to become Gucci’s creative director.
Fans react as Britney Spears merch price tags hit $1,650
While the star calls the pieces “some of my favorite images,” many fans balked at the price.
“Sadly too poor for this. But pop off queen! Get that coin!” one wrote on X.
Another added, “In this economy, I don’t think any of us can afford this.”
One more frustrated supporter said, “The way this new Britney merch is mostly over 1k Britney Nerds aren’t buying the new merch that’s $40 let alone that much.”
