Britney Spears’ son Jayden Federline speaks out on her condition after rehab exit and DUI arrest
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Singer Britney Spears’s son Jayden James Federline briefly addressed his mother’s recent rehab stay while stepping out in West Hollywood on Wednesday night. The 19-year-old was approached by photographers and asked about the pop star’s condition following her exit from treatment and recent DUI case developments.
Although Jayden declined to speak in detail, he appeared to reassure onlookers by nodding affirmatively when asked whether Spears was “doing good.” Spears also shares another son, Sean Preston Federline, with her ex-husband Kevin Federline.
Jayden Federline responds to questions about Britney Spears
Jayden’s brief response came just days after Spears reached a plea deal in her DUI case. According to reports, the singer pleaded guilty to reckless driving during her arraignment at Ventura Superior Court on Monday, May 4, after prosecutors reduced the original DUI-related charges.
The Ventura County District Attorney’s Office had previously filed one misdemeanor count of driving under the influence of alcohol following her March 4 arrest in Ventura, California. Spears had allegedly been driving “erratically” on the highway at the time of the incident.
Prosecutors later reduced the case to a “wet reckless,” which is an informal term used for plea agreements where DUI charges are lowered to reckless driving offenses.
Such deals are generally offered to defendants with no prior DUI history, low blood alcohol levels, no injuries or crashes connected to the incident, and evidence that the individual is proactively addressing underlying issues through rehabilitation or substance abuse programs.
As part of the agreement, Spears will remain on probation for 12 months. She has also been ordered to continue both mental health and substance abuse treatment. Ventura County Superior Court Commissioner Matthew Nemerson additionally fined the singer $721 and directed her to meet with a psychologist once a week and a psychiatrist twice a month.
The court also instructed Spears to avoid alcohol and any non-prescribed substances, except for medications prescribed by a doctor. Authorities were further granted permission to search her vehicle without a warrant if she is stopped again by police.
Britney Spears returns to Instagram after rehab treatment
Before appearing in court, Spears voluntarily checked herself into a treatment facility shortly after her DUI arrest. She reportedly left the facility only days before her arraignment hearing. On the same day as her court appearance, she returned to Instagram and shared a dancing video filmed at her $9.8 million, 21-acre mansion in Thousand Oaks.
A source told the Daily Mail last week that Spears had been “doing very well” and was feeling optimistic about her future. The insider also said she planned to continue counseling and focus on becoming “the best person she can be and really thrive in life.”
According to the same source, Spears has been spending most of her time with her two sons. The singer reportedly entered a Southern California clinic in early April after reports emerged that she had been sober and regularly attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings near her Thousand Oaks home.
Another insider claimed Spears had been “very open and honest” during the meetings and enjoyed “pouring her heart out” because she believed it helped her heal and feel better.
