NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE: Garth Brooks and his wife, Trisha Yearwood, paid tribute to Dolly Parton in their own way at their Nashville restaurant. Brooks shared the news on his official website, announcing that the 'Dolly Day' charity event will take place on September 25.

The announcement came on August 29, shortly after his daughter, Allie Colleen, sparked controversy with a post about death and her tribute to the late country music icon.

Garth Brooks honors Dolly Parton with 'Dolly Day' event

The 'Dolly Day' charity event will be held at Brooks and Yearwood's restaurant/bar, Low Places Bar & Honky-Tonk, in Nashville. The couple will donate their entire day's income to children's literacy in honor of Imagination Library, the literacy program launched by the late music icon.

"Whatever the cash register says at the end of the day is going to Dolly's passion," Yearwood said in a joint statement online. "This is 100% about Dolly and her love for children's literacy." "Dolly may be the perfect example of if you spend your whole life loving, you WILL live forever," Brooks added.

The 'Dolly Day' event will be an annual event after this year, as per reports.

Why Allie Colleen's tribute to Dolly Parton sparked backlash online

Colleen shared a post, writing, “My greatest fear in life is the day my dad loses his life and i have to see the world mourn a man they never knew the way I knew him”

She continued, “To the personal family and friends of Mrs Dolly, you have all my love and condolences today and dorver goung forward- What a huge, beautiful, special life to have loved and to grieve.”

In conclusion, she wrote, “Thank you for sharing her with us all - Allie,” a line directed at Parton's family. Along with the post, which featured a pink and colorful background, she also shared a caption that read, “What a beautiful privilege it is to mourn.. to grieve is to know you loved deeply and fully."

“To the woman we all love, and all those who grieve for her- I love you all. Please respect the family and her personal friends <3”

However, the post made many people in the comments section uneasy, with several users questioning the intention behind it. Among them, one user wrote, “Maybe I’m confused? How is this a good way of putting it? No one is allowed to be sad except the family? That’s wild,”

To which Colleen responded: "This is my account- I am saying I don’t know how to respond to these things in my industry because of my life experiences. I’m not telling anyone else how to grieve. You do you, babe."

Brooks and Yearwood's 'Dolly Day' will now give fans another way to honor Parton's legacy while supporting children's literacy through a cause closely associated with the country music icon.
