During her Monday visit on 'Good Morning America', the former child model talked about how she felt about a recent Instagram Live comment she received.

Shields laughed and explained, "I was doing an Instagram Live the other day and one of the comments was, 'I really wish you looked the way you used to.' And I was like, 'Really?'"

"I thought, 'Boy, we're all so out of touch.' We need to find joy in this," she added, as per Daily Mail

Brooke Shields reflects on the societal pressures that women face

Brooke Shields was inspired to write her new memoir, 'Brooke Shields Is Not Allowed to Get Old: Thoughts on Aging as a Woman', after she launched her haircare business, Commence.

Reflecting on the societal pressures that women encounter, the actress said, "The beauty industry wants us to chase youth, we look at regrets — what if, what if. And I think it’s important to understand where you’ve been, but I think it’s really joyous to say, 'I may not know where I’m going but I’m here.'"

Shields also mentioned how important it is for women to speak out for themselves and be able to talk about their experiences with one another.

Shields clarified that although she wants to "look my best and I want to be healthy," anti-aging skincare is not her top priority.

"I’ve earned everything that I have on my face. And I think it’s important to pat yourself on your back and say, 'What do you want to do now?'" she expressed, as per People.

Brooke Shields highlights how men and women are treated differently by medical professionals

During her appearance on 'Good Morning America', Brooke Shields also discussed why she chose to include a section on women's experiences in the healthcare system in her new book.

She shared a personal anecdote about having a seizure after a recent health emergency. Shields recalled how two male doctors asked about her eating habits without taking other things into account.

She said, "I had a seizure not too long ago and the two male doctors said, ‘Are you restricting yourself for dietary reasons?’ And I was like, 'No. I’m a 59-year-old woman who looks younger and bloated. Give me some potato chips!'"

"You wouldn't say that to a man. It's just time to kind of explore this without yelling, without being angry," 'The Blue Lagoon' actress remarked.

"Women go through stuff. We need to be able to say, ‘This isn’t fair.’ We need to be able to self-advocate," Shields stressed.

"And that’s not what the book is, it’s not reducing it to male, female — we love the men in our lives. But it’s time to kind of explore this without yelling, without being angry," the actress noted, as per People.

"I tell my girls… we don’t have to yell louder. We just have to be secure in what we believe and to be heard, because we’re not going to get anywhere by just screaming," she added.

Shields clarified that the seizure occurred as a result of her consuming large amounts of water without being aware that her sodium levels were low. She lost her balance while waiting for an Uber and fell, slamming her head on a wall.

The actress said that she felt compelled to speak her truth and that nothing in her life frightens her right now.
