LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Bryce Dallas Howard once witnessed a moment so intense that she thought Tom Cruise might have been in serious danger.
The actress recalled seeing the action star get pulled into a crowd of excited fans during a red carpet event in Tokyo when she was just 11 years old.
The experience left a lasting impression on her, but it didn't stop her from pursuing a career in the entertainment industry.

Bryce Dallas Howard remembered the shocking moment while speaking with her father Ron Howard, according to People.
She described how Cruise, known for his enthusiasm with fans, got too close to the crowd during a screening of 'Far and Away' in 1992.

"He was walking in front of me, probably 10 feet in front of me on this red carpet. And all the fans were excited, and he was waving and he got a little too close and his arm got sucked and then his entire body got sucked in to the crowd," Howard said.
Although he was eventually pulled out, the moment left her questioning the realities of fame.
"'Is this because people love him?' It was a really kind of weird moment, but not a bad moment, because Tom was right back at it," Howard added.
Ron Howard recalls not allowing Bryce Dallas Howard to be a child actor
In the same interview, Howard's father, Ron Howard, detailed how she had shown a strong interest in acting from a young age, despite he and his wife, Cheryl Howard, being hesitant about it.
"She would ask about [acting], and my wife Cheryl and I would say, 'No, we can't let you be a child actor,'" Ron said.

"We didn't have the bandwidth to do what my parents did, which is really supervising ... And plus I felt like that the Opie mythology was a little bit tough, you know, too much to ask a kid to face as a child performer," Ron added, according to E! News.
Bryce Dallas Howard’s passion for acting never faded
Despite her parents’ reservations, Bryce Dallas Howard's love for acting never wavered.
Ron revealed how she remained dedicated to learning the craft throughout her teenage years.
"As a student, Bryce was unbelievable. She did every show, every summer program, and by the time she was, I don't know, 14 or 15, I could see that she could be a professional anytime she wanted to be," Ron continued.

The experience of seeing Cruise in the middle of an overwhelming crowd remains a "vivid memory" for Bryce, but it didn’t stop her from stepping into the spotlight herself.
