‘What a buffoon’: Byron Donalds ridiculed as he invites Taylor Swift to join Trump’s campaign, says ‘we would love to have you’

WASHINGTON, DC: Representative Byron Donalds appeared on CNN’s 'News Central' and extended an invitation to pop superstar Taylor Swift to join former President Donald Trump’s campaign.

In a conversation with anchor Kate Bolduan, Donalds revealed Trump’s openness to Swift’s support amid discussions with congressional Republicans on Capitol Hill, as reported by Mediaite.

During the interview, Bolduan, with a tone of amused disbelief, questioned Donalds on whether Trump genuinely believed he could garner Swift’s support. Donalds clarified that Trump wasn’t expecting Swift’s endorsement but would gladly welcome it if she chose to support him.

"No, no, no. He just talked about it in terms of Joe Biden. Obviously, you know, Taylor, if you want to come on and join the campaign and support President Trump, we would love to have you. But that’s something that she’s going to figure out with herself and her team probably," Donalds said.

"But look, at the end of the day, you’re seeing a lot of celebrities beginning to support President Trump. The reason why is because the country is a flat-out mess," he added.

When Bolduan pressed further, asking if Trump was "really gripe about Taylor Swift in the meeting with you all and wonder why she’s with Biden and not with him," Donalds responded, "No, I think he was more talking about maybe she’s not with him anymore because, I mean, look, Taylor Swift sees what everybody sees."

"Joe Biden’s really not here. He’s not with us. You know, he’s doing, I guess, the best he can. But the stature and the image of leadership that Americans expect in the United States presidency is not embodied by Joe Biden. Everybody knows that," he further explained.

Donalds continued to defend Trump’s appeal to celebrities and the American public, attributing the shift in support to dissatisfaction with President Joe Biden’s administration.

"Joe Biden has made every wrong decision. The Democrats have supported every decision. Frankly, there’s a lot of these Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren policies that he has executed here in our country. It’s simply not working," he expressed.

"So that’s why you have a lot of celebrities who were very in favor of Joe Biden four years ago are now very, very quiet. And some of them have come out for Donald Trump," Donalds concluded.

Byron Donalds' invitation to Taylor Swift sparks trolling online

Donalds' invitation to Swift for joining the Trump campaign was met with significant backlash and ridicule online.

One user mocked the situation, saying, "See conservatives, this is why people laugh at you."

Another user added, "Donalds seems to be layering on the desperation."

A third critic pointed out the unlikelihood of Swift’s support, writing, "What a buffoon he is for even asking. Does he have no awareness of Swift’s demographics? MAGA Republicans have no awareness of things."

The trolling continued with another user quipping, "There’s a better chance of finding a front row Swift concert ticket on the sidewalk than her endorsing him."

One user remarked, "Why the hell would Taylor Swift support Trump? His presidency was an unmitigated disaster."

Another said, "Uncle Byron is a moron and sycophant. No woman in their right mind wants to join Trump's campaign."

One user summarized the sentiment, stating, "Trump has a better chance of seeing God than Swift supporting him."

Lastly, one commenter remarked, "Begging Taylor Swift to support you. MAGA isn't exactly projecting confidence."
