LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Carnie Wilson is standing by her daughter, Lola Sofia Bonfiglio, after the 19-year-old faced harsh criticism following her 'American Idol' audition.

This comes as Carnie and her Wilson Phillips bandmates took the stage for 90s Con's the "Music of the 90s" panel on Sunday, March 30, at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford, Connecticut.

During the March 23 episode of 'American Idol', Carnie and her sister, Wendy Wilson, alongside Lola, performed Wilson Phillips' 1992 classic 'Hold On', with Lola’s father, Rob Bonfiglio, accompanying them on guitar, in front of judges Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood, and Lionel Richie.

Carnie Wilson opens up about her daughter Lola Bonfiglio's 'American Idol' audition

At 90s Con, Carnie Wilson opened up about her daughter Lola Bonfiglio’s 'American Idol' audition, calling it the "scariest thing she has ever done."

The 56-year-old explained that Lola was "trembling with nerves" but proudly stated, "She did great. I'm so proud of her."

Carnie shared that they ended up joining the audition unexpectedly, noting that she didn’t think the judges knew they would be there. She added, "We love singing with her, and she sings with us on tour sometimes. She’s a really inspiring artist."

Carnie also addressed the more challenging side of having her daughter on the reality show. "We’re human, and the Internet is so cruel, and the comments are really pissing me off, and I can’t respond," she expressed.

"Would you encourage a doctor’s son not to be a doctor?" the 'Hold On' hitmaker continued, defending Lola’s dream to be a singer despite the hurtful comments. "Lola wants to be a singer, and they say these terrible things. And she was so hurt," she added.

While Carnie acknowledged some positive feedback, her Wilson Phillips bandmate, Chynna Phillips Baldwin, 57, mentioned seeing more supportive comments. Carnie, however, noted that "the majority" were negative, urging people to understand that it’s not all "happy glitter things," but "real people with real hearts and souls."

Carnie Wilson is so proud of daughter Lola for being brave enough to audition

Carnie Wilson expressed immense pride in daughter Lola Bonfiglio’s bravery to audition and praised her daughter’s talent, saying, "I encourage her to do it because she loves to sing. But I’m so proud of her that she was even brave enough to audition. She sounds so beautiful. I’m so excited for her future. She has a stunning voice."

On a lighthearted note, Backstreet Boys' AJ McLean, 47, mentioned that his bandmate Brian Littrell’s son, Baylee Littrell, 22, is also competing on 'American Idol' this season. "This is conflicting," he joked, promising to vote for both Lola and Baylee.

During Lola’s audition, she also performed Kacey Musgraves’ 'Rainbow' solo. Carnie was seen visibly emotional, clutching tissues and wiping away tears. After receiving feedback from the judges, they unanimously voted to send Lola to Hollywood, as per People.

After Carnie Wilson defended her daughter Lola Bonfiglio, several internet users quickly praised the teenager for her impressive voice, noting how she seems to have inherited her mother's musical talent.

One expressed, "Lola’s voice is stunning. I have heard her sing many other songs," and another said, "Beautiful voice like her momma and her aunt!"

"Wow she’s got talent just like her momma Carnie Wilson," a person gushed, whereas someone else commented, "I personally know she sings beautifully. You are right. It's in your amazing fab family genes. I love your dad Brian & the whole family rocks. So here's a really good comment as it should be. Don't ever pay attention to idiot haters. They are the ones with the problem."

"Absolutely beautiful voices and Lola’s did a wonderful job. Wow," read another comment. "A third generation of Wilson’s. Of course she can sing!!" one more exclaimed. Notably, Carnie and Wendy are daughters of The Beach Boys' Brian Wilson.

"Your daughter has a beautiful voice. Lifted my soul as music and voice should," said another person.
