LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Carrie Underwood recently took a trip down memory lane, sharing a piece of her handwritten journal from her 'American Idol' days.

“Let’s take a look at my journal from when I was on American Idol,” Carrie Underwood, now 41, said in the clip before reading an excerpt. “I just have to keep in mind that it will all be worth it, and the life I’ve started will be great,” she read, flashing a small smile.

Underwood continued, “Most importantly, I have to remember that this has all been my choice, and it’s something I’ve wanted ever since I was a little girl. I know I have some great things ahead of me. Right now, I’m just trying to live in the moment and appreciate it all. I never dreamed that all of this would happen to me. I love it.”

Eight-time Grammy winner Underwood shared her reflections in the caption, connecting her past to the present: "Opening up my journal from 20 years ago, I’m reminded still that @americanidol was and is always worth it," she wrote.

The singer behind 'Jesus, Take the Wheel' is joining 'American Idol' as a judge for Season 23, premiering March 9.
