Carrie Underwood's fans threaten to 'hit dislike' on latest Hulu special after Trump inauguration fiasco

WASHINGTON, DC: Carrie Underwood’s upcoming Hulu special is the latest of the singer’s projects to feel the heat of her decision to perform at Donald Trump’s second inauguration. 

Recently, the streaming platform shared a preview clip of a special consisting of the singer's greatest performances titled, 'Carie Underwood: Reflection', on their X (formerly Twitter) account, which was soon hijacked by several disgruntled fans who were displeased with the 41-year-old singer’s recent move, as per The Mirror.

Hulu shared a montage of clips from her concerts with the caption, "All the hits and show-stopping performances that will leave you wanting more! Stream Carrie Underwood: Reflection now on Hulu!"

Carrie Underwood's decision to perform at Donald Trump's inauguration angered her fans

Dissonance among Carrie Underwood's fans grew ever since it was announced that the singer would be performing 'America the Beautiful' at the inauguration ceremony on Monday, January 20. 

After her performance was confirmed, ‘The Champion’ singer shared in a statement, per People, "I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event. I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future."

The songstress previously said that she tries to keep her political opinions to herself at least in public. 

In 2019, Underwood shared with The Guardian, "I try to stay far out of politics if possible, at least in public, because nobody wins. It’s crazy. Everybody tries to sum everything up and put a bow on it like it’s black and white. And it’s not like that."

Apart from the Hulu special, several 'American Idol' fans have called to boycott the upcoming season, as Underwood, who won the fourth season of the singing competition, recently replaced Katy Perry on the judge's panel.

A source shared with Daily Mail, as reported by The Mirror, "Idol contestants come from a wide range of diverse backgrounds, and so do the people who work on the show. There are concerns that her apparent political stance might make some contestants feel uncomfortable."

"There's also worry that backlash could impact viewership. Her apparent support for Trump doesn't align with the show's values of inclusivity and diversity," they added.

Fans are still cross at Carrie Underwood for her inauguration performance

Carrie Underwood's disgruntled fans didn't mince their words while dissing the singer after the announcement of her Hulu special, with some even claiming that they would rather "watch paint dry" than watch the show. 

One wrote, "I’d rather watch paint dry or an actual decent musician so I WILL ✌️," and another said, "Nope! She's a traitor to women and her country!"

"Absolutely not. Haaaard pass," a person said, with someone else declaring, "Gross, cancled my Hulu."

"I'll click on it and hit dislike. Just like many many other people are," another incensed fan wrote. 

"You sold out to the worst possible cause. I hope your career goes in the gutter," one more comment read.
