FULTON COUNTY, GEORGIA: Journalist Megyn Kelly shared her reaction to the verdict in the Fani Willis case, asserting that the judge's ruling effectively 'splits the baby' in the matter.

State Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee decided that Willis could continue pursuing the election interference case against former President Donald Trump on the condition that she severs ties with Nathan Wade, a prosecutor she had hired who was also romantically involved with her.

Kelly commented on the X (formerly Twitter) platform regarding the ruling, stating, "Judge splits the baby. Obviously, Wade will go and Fani will stay. It’s a cowardly decision by the judge but still a major win for this defense team."

Controversy surrounds prosecutor Fani Willis' alleged misconduct in Trump case

Willis came under scrutiny for appointing Wade despite their romantic involvement, as he charged county taxpayers over $728,000 in legal fees and utilized the funds for luxurious vacations alongside Willis.

Trump's legal team contended that Willis financially benefited from paying Wade to aid in prosecuting the former president, all while indulging in extravagant vacations together.

However, McAfee ruled that there was insufficient evidence to support the notion that Willis acted in her financial interests, particularly since she did not appear to be in dire financial straits.

Kelly expressed skepticism about Willis's commitment to pursuing the case against Trump, citing a future fraught with multiple investigations into her professional history and personal background.

"Before this scandal was unearthed by defense attorney Ashley Merchant, things were rolling along for Fani W. I’m not at all confident she will try this case v Trump. She will be under multiple investigations by then," McAfee wrote in another X post.

"She’s now been publicly humiliated and disgraced. Her ethical & legal probs are only just beginning," she penned.

"She gets to remain on the case thx to a judge who pulled a cowardly John Roberts. But her probs are only beginning … and getting Wade off of this case is a superhuman feat by the defense. He’s been outed (as has she) as a liar/schemer. So - not entirely what the defense wanted (or deserved) but still Team Trump is in much better shape today than 3 mos ago in GA", the post concluded.

The revelations of the high-profile case became public knowledge following a court filing by attorney Ashleigh Merchant, who represents Trump's codefendant Michael Roman, alleging misconduct.

Lawyers representing Trump contended that Willis should be removed from the case due to her romantic partner Wade receiving over $600,000 as a special prosecutor while being romantically involved.

Internet users take to social media to voice opinions

After these unfolding events, Netizens utilized social media as a platform to articulate their thoughts and opinions.

One dazed viewer wrote, "I'm confused. If Fani cuts ties with Wade and then stays and continues to try the case... then, how is this a major win?"

Another viewer disagreed with the host, writing, "I disagree @megynkelly that this is a major win for the defense. It’s a loss. Wade is the sacrificial lamb Willis stays without consequences for perpetuating fraud on the court No consequences for steering contract to BF then globetrotting with him using money she paid him."

"Not a major win. But case is bogus anyway," said another viewer.

"It’s not the ideal outcome for either side. I’ll take it," one comment read.

Another user commented, "Far from a major win."

"No major loss. They wanted the whole case dismissed," wrote one more user.

"Doesn’t seem like a major win to me. Explain," another viewer echoed a similar sentiment.
