Celine Dion fights stiff-person syndrome amid Olympics 2024 performance

Celine Dion has been diagnosed with Stiff-person Syndrome for years, which is well documented in ‘I Am: Celine Dion'.

She told Vogue France in April, "I've chosen to work with all my body and soul, from head to toe, with a medical team. I want to be the best I can be. My goal is to see the Eiffel Tower again!"

It is most likely she’d be singing near the landmark site since the opening ceremony will be held along the banks of the Seine.

Other stars who were likely to join Dion for Friday's performance are Lady Gaga, Aya Nakamura, Dua Lipa, and Ariana Grande.

Recently, Dion donated $2 million to the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus where her doctor Dr Amanda Piquet is researching the cure for the autoimmune disease, per CBS News.

Dr Piquet, the director of Autoimmune Neurology at CU Anschutz, said in the interview, “I am just incredibly honored to receive this recognition to move the field forward with this research.”

She explained, “Stiff person syndrome is a progressive autoimmune neurological disorder that is characterized by two cardinal features – muscle spasms and stiffness,” adding that it can “take years to get a diagnosis,” reported Daily Mail.
