Channing Tatum’s lawyers question his ex-wife Jenna Dewan’s fiance amid their divorce battle
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: As the divorce saga between Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan shows no signs of conclusion, the actress's fiance has reportedly encountered its repercussions recently.
Steve Kazee was reportedly grilled under oath in mid-March by Tatum’s attorneys, RadarOnline.com reported.
Jenna Dewan and Steve Kazee began ‘cohabitating’ soon after her separation from Channing Tatum
Quoting court documents, the publication noted that Dewan and the 48-year-old actor started residing together "soon after the parties separated six years ago and she became pregnant with their first child the following year."
“[Dewan] and Mr Kazee have been engaged since February 2020 and share a three-year-old son together. [Dewan] is currently pregnant with her and Mr Kazee’s second child,” it noted.
Tatum has reportedly been inquiring about potential dates for Dewan's deposition since late last year, and after several exchanges, "Dewan's deposition was ultimately scheduled for February 29, 2024."
However, she did not attend the deposition.
Jenna Dewan was accused of showing reluctance to deposition
Afterward, "[Dewan’s] counsel assured [Tatum’s] counsel that they would provide alternative dates within the next day or so and that [Dewan’s] deposition would occur before [Tatum’s] deposition (which was important to [Tatum] solely to ensure that [Dewan’s] deposition indeed took place)."
“However, as of the date of this brief, [Dewan’s] deposition has not been rescheduled,” ‘The Lost City’ actor’s lawyer revealed.
Despite the proposal of new dates, Dewan’s side has allegedly not responded yet.
Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan fight over ‘Magic Mike’
This development occurred following a dispute between the former spouses over the profits from 'Magic Mike,' with the 43-year-old actress purportedly contributing to the film franchise, live shows, and a reality show.
According to her attorneys, Tatum, "with the participation and assistance of his business manager and other associates, has established an intricate network of LLCs, holding companies, and partnerships, all designed to diminish and obscure the value of, and licensing income from, the community property share of Magic Mike intellectual property and related assets."
However, her ex-husband countered in his filing that he "dedicated significant efforts since their separation to the development of the Magic Mike intellectual property and associated entities, which [Tatum] argues establishes his separate property interest in them."
“The Court will need to allocate the community interest and [Tatum’s] separate property interest in the intellectual property and related entities in consideration of [Tatum’s] post-separation efforts,” his lawyer mentioned.
Tatum’s legal team also asserted that “[Tatum] has never denied [Dewan] of her share of the community assets or income. [Dewan] has been involved in all aspects of community investments, opportunities, and transactions.”
The documents further stated, "All transactions were conducted at arm's length; [Dewan] was represented by legal counsel, signed gift tax returns, and actively participated in transactions for the benefit of the community and their daughter. The evidence will demonstrate that [Tatum] has never taken actions to harm the community or [Dewan]."
