Charlie Sheen defends ex-wife Brooke Mueller after cops question her amid Matthew Perry death probe
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Charlie Sheen's ex wife Brooke Mueller has been reportedly questioned as part of LAPD's criminal investigation into Matthew Perry's death.
Now days after the questioning, Sheen's lawyer, Gregory J Pedrick, has spoken up in defense of the actor's ex wife.
Brooke Mueller questioned over Matthew Perry's death 'multiple' times
The criminal probe into Matthew Perry's death included information from Charlie Sheen's ex-wife, Brooke Mueller.
Mueller, 46, has reportedly been questioned "multiple" times about Perry's October death, as per what sources told InTouch Weekly.
She is apparently staying at a sober living home; but, when law enforcement showed up with a search warrant last month, the actress wasn't there.
Now as per InTouch Weekly, Pedrick believes that Mueller, who has dealt with her own issues of substance abuse, has been tangled in Perry's death investigation because of her past struggles.
He shared with InTouch Weekly, "I believe Ms Mueller's past choices may have put her in a position to provide some incidental, anecdotal background to the authorities investigating Mr Perry's death."
Mueller was allegedly living in a sober living home when authorities executed a search warrant there. Her laptop and iPhone were reportedly removed by officials as part of their investigation. Given the commotion surrounding her, Mueller has apparently taken cover and consulted legal counsel.
According to InTouch Weekly, Mueller had her lawyers present when the LAPD met with her multiple times. According to a source who spoke with the site, police arrived at her sober living facility with a search warrant but were unable to extract much information from her.
A source told the outlet, "She's hired lawyers and has had multiple meetings with law enforcement since they arrived at her sober living house with a search warrant. She's being tight-lipped about the situation."
A source added, "It's tough to say or know exactly what her role is [in Matthew's death], but she's adamant she had nothing to do with that."
A source further told People the investigation is "nearing its conclusion." They also said that several people will be charged in Perry's death.
Inside Brooke Mueller and Matthew Perry's friendship
According to the actor's autopsy, he had high levels of ketamine in his blood and likely lapsed into unconsciousness and then went underwater.
It was previously reported that because of the amount of ketamine in Perry's system, his death is being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Agency and one person they spoke with was Charlie Sheen's ex-wife, Brooke Mueller.
Perry and Mueller's relationship timeline began at rehab.
The two met while in treatment at the same time and bonded over the mutual friends they had in the entertainment industry. This same source claimed that the two leaned on each other heavily and formed an "unexpected friendship." Both had been in and out of rehab multiple times.
