Cher left ‘speechless’ after discovering secret granddaughter from son’s past romance
MALIBU, CALIFORNIA: Singer and actress Cher reportedly learned she had a secret granddaughter more than a decade after her son, Elijah Blue Allman, allegedly welcomed the child. Former model Kayti Edwards claimed she dated Allman in 2010 and gave birth to their daughter, Ever, that same year.
The revelation comes alongside renewed and intensifying legal and personal concerns surrounding Allman’s deteriorating health, unstable finances, and escalating legal troubles across multiple cases.
Cher’s secret granddaughter claim by Kayti Edwards
Edwards, who is the granddaughter of Julie Andrews, claimed in an interview with the US Sun on Sunday, April 19, that Cher contacted her in June last year to confirm whether the claims about Ever were true. “Cher got in touch with me last June and asked if it was true, so I had to confess,” Edwards alleged.
She further stated that Cher had previously heard about the child from Allman in 2021 during an overdose episode but initially dismissed it as “crazy talk.” “When she heard the news, she was speechless,” Edwards claimed, adding that Cher told her family, “Oh my God, I’m finally a grandma.”
Edwards described her alleged relationship with Allman, stating that she became pregnant after one night together. “He always knew from day one, but he never wanted to be a parent,” she claimed, adding that he would occasionally “pop in every couple of years” just to say hello.
Edwards, who is now married, said Allman reached out in 2021 seeking to make amends following his overdose. She emphasized that her husband has been Ever’s father figure, saying, “She has a father who has raised her from day one and that is her dad. I couldn’t ask for a better father for my kids.”
She further alleged that Allman re-entered their lives shortly before his second overdose in 2023, asking to stay with her to escape Hollywood. “A few weeks later, he overdosed and was hospitalized, and this was when Cher got in touch,” Edwards claimed.
She also described a visit to Cher’s Malibu home in September 2025, calling the singer “lovely and kind.” She said Cher showed Ever her closet, including jeans worn in concert, and spent time playing with her. Edwards described Cher as “childlike,” recalling how she asked Ever about boys and played in the pool with her.
Cher’s legal battle over Elijah Blue Allman’s estate
Separately, Cher has filed for conservatorship of Allman’s estate for a second time, citing severe concerns about his well-being. According to court documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, she requested fiduciary Jason Rubin be appointed as temporary conservator of her 49-year-old son’s finances.
“The life of Elijah Allman (‘proposed conservatee’) has significantly deteriorated since a prior conservatorship petition was filed in [December] 2023,” the filing states.
It further notes that Allman is currently in custody in New Hampshire at a locked psychiatric hospital while being restored to competency to face criminal charges, including felony burglary, criminal mischief, simple assault, criminal trespass, and breach of bail.
Cher alleged that her son suffers from “severe mental health and addiction issues” and “has no concept of money.”
She claimed he spends his $120,000 annual trust distribution almost entirely on “expensive hotels and limousine transportation,” often checking into hotels like the Chateau Marmont and using substances until the funds are depleted.
The filing also alleges that Allman has failed to pay income taxes, missed court appearances related to spousal support owed to former wife Marieangela King, and once borrowed money to pay off an $18,000 debt to a drug dealer.
Cher further claimed he has been removed from 18 hotels due to erratic behavior and has caused extensive property damage.
Additional allegations include inappropriate behavior, dangerous incidents such as being found unconscious in traffic and requiring Narcan, and multiple grease fires caused while cooking.
“Elijah’s situation has become dire on multiple fronts,” Cher stated, citing worsening mental health, financial instability, and drug dependency.
