Cher says she’d put a ‘pillow over her head’ and scream instead of celebrating turning 78
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The pop icon Cher seems to be an individual who is not interested in embracing birthdays or the aging process.
The Grammy Award winner celebrated another year on Monday, May 20. Before her birthday, she appeared in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, during which she discussed her plans for celebrating the occasion.
During the interview, she revealed that she is not particularly thrilled about entering another year of her life
What did the singer Cher say about her birthday plans?
The singer of 'Believe', who turns 78 on Monday, May 20, has revealed her plans for the occasion, hinting that there won't be much celebrating involved.
At the premiere of the documentary 'Bob Mackie: Naked Illusion' in Los Angeles last week, Cher was asked about her birthday plans.
She candidly shared with Entertainment Tonight that her idea of celebrating involves "putting my pillow over my head and screaming."
Similarly, when E! News inquired about her birthday at the same event, Cher reiterated her desire to keep things low-key, expressing, "Please. God, I'm putting my head under the bed."
This isn't the first time the singer of 'Strong Enough' has commented on her disinterest in aging, as per People.
In 2020, speaking with The Guardian, she shared, "Any woman who is honest will say it's not as much fun." Reflecting on her past, she reminisced, "When I was working on the road we used to work two shows a night and then go out dancing all night long."
However, she acknowledges the change in pace, remarking, "It's like we've got to rest because you've got another night" as per Indy100.
Despite her advancing age, Cher has no plans to alter her iconic style anytime soon. She disclosed to 'Good Morning Britain' last year that she still "keeps up with the trends."
Looking ahead, she expressed disbelief at the thought of turning 80, asserting, "I just can't believe I will be 80 at some point, sooner than I wish."
Nevertheless, she remains committed to her signature look, affirming, "And I will still be wearing my jeans, and I will still be wearing long hair, and I will still be doing the same stuff I've always done."
Internet dubs Cher as ‘gorgeous’

Another added, "I don't blame her for not being thrilled about getting older. I feel the same way. The best thing to do is live your life to the fullest." One user said, "I hear that there are some nice places in Canada to celebrate your birthday, no pillows needed, I'm sure that if you took up a collection, there would be more than enough people who would be happy to send you there." A user wrote, "Cher is still gorgeous! No need to worry."
Cher doesn't feel old
Last year, Cher marked her 77th birthday and took to X (formerly Twitter), questioning when she would start feeling her age. "Ok, Will Someone 🙏🏼 PLEASE Tell me…..When Will I Feel OLD👶🏻," she penned at the time. "This is ridiculous."
Expressing frustration with numerical age markers, she added, "I keep hearing these numbers, but I Honestly can't understand them. WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH #'s⁉️ I'm dyslexic & #'s Are hard 4 me."
Cher then extended gratitude to her fans in her birthday post, acknowledging the challenges, "Thank u for staying, I know it's been hard. Got to go work out. Twitter is harder for me than TweetBot."
