Cher says Elijah Blue Allman ‘gravely disabled’ in new filing
In the legal petition, Cher describes her 49-year-old son as “gravely disabled,” raising concerns about his ability to manage his own life and finances.
She has asked the court to appoint fiduciary Jason Rubin as the temporary conservator of his estate.
According to the filing, Cher believes her son struggles to handle money responsibly.
It claims he has “no concept of money” and spends whatever he receives almost immediately, leaving little room for stability.
The document also mentions financial pressures, including unpaid taxes and ongoing obligations tied to his past marriage.
Altogether, Cher paints a picture of a situation that she believes requires urgent oversight.
Previous effort failed as Cher claims promises were not kept
This is not the first time Cher has attempted to place her son under a conservatorship.
A previous filing in 2023 did not move forward after Allman reportedly promised to change his lifestyle and take responsibility for his actions.
However, in her latest petition, Cher says those promises did not last.
She claims that his assurances “turned out to be nothing more than words,” adding that his condition has now “become dire on multiple fronts.” The wording reflects her growing concern that without intervention, things may continue to worsen.
Filing outlines pattern of troubling behavior and instability
The petition also lists several incidents that Cher believes show a pattern of instability.
It alleges that Allman has caused repeated damage to rental properties, including significant repair costs in some cases.
There are also claims that he has been asked to leave multiple hotels due to disruptive behavior, with the filing stating that his actions made others uncomfortable.
Another incident mentioned in the document describes a situation where he was found passed out in his car in the middle of traffic, raising concerns about his safety and well-being.
Taken together, these details form the basis of Cher’s argument that her son needs structured support and supervision at this stage.
Elijah Blue Allman is Cher’s only child with the late musician Gregg Allman, whom she was married to from 1975 to 1979.
Like his parents, he followed a path in music, performing as part of the rock group Deadsy and working with several well-known acts over the years.
Cher is also mother to Chaz Bono, whom she shares with her former husband Sonny Bono.
