Patrick Muldoon’s final moments and breakthrough roles
Muldoon's sister, Shana Muldoon-Zappa, told TMZ that Patrick had spent the morning with his partner, Miriam Rothbart, at their home before going to take a shower. After Rothbart grew concerned about how long he was taking, she went to check on him and found him unconscious on the bathroom floor.
Known as “Bobo” among his loved ones, per Deadline, Muldoon grew up in San Pedro, before going on to graduate from USC, where he played for the Trojans football team. However, he shifted career paths while still in college after appearing in two episodes of 'Who’s the Boss?'
Soon after his 1991 graduation, Muldoon landed a three-episode recurring role on 'Saved By the Bell,' where he famously played Jeffrey Hunter, Kelly (Tiffani Thiessen)'s brief love interest.
He went on to take on one of his most iconic roles as Austin Reed on 'Days of Our Lives,' appearing from 1992 to 1995 and returning again from 2011 to 2012. During his break from the show, Muldoon portrayed Richard Hart on 'Melrose Place' from Seasons 3 to 5.
His career also extended to films, where he played Zander Barcalow in the 1997 movie 'Starship Troopers' alongside actor Denise Richards. His latest project, 'Dirty Hands,' was set for release later this year.
Lola Sheen remembers Patrick Muldoon with an emotional tribute recalling family bond
Lola Sheen, the 20-year-old daughter of Richards and Charlie Sheen, paid tribute to Muldoon. "I thought you were the one that was supposed be in our lives forever. When I think of my childhood I think of you Pat," Lola wrote on social media alongside a photo of Richards and Muldoon in a car.
She further said, "And it's gonna be so weird to go on without you in our lives. You were such a huge part of our family and life will never feel the same, but that's just because of how much you impacted us." Richards dated Muldoon on and off in the ’90s, but the two remained close friends for many years afterward.
Muldoon shared similar sentiments during an October episode of Tori Spelling’s 'misSPELLING' podcast, which was guest-hosted by actress Elisa Donovan.
Muldoon said, "The thing about Denise and I is everybody thinks we met on Starship Troopers, But we met in acting class when she was 19 and I was 21. We both don't come from entertainment families, and our families got to know each other over the years and kind of checked in with each other on navigating the crazy stuff that we all go through."
In her tribute, Lola recalled a vivid memory of Muldoon, who appeared on her mom’s reality show, 'Denise Richards & Her Wild Things,' in 2025. She wrote, "Thank you for showing everyone around you how to be alive."
Lola concluded her message, "You were the definition of what it means to have fun. I'll never forget when we were on that trip with my mom and you wouldn't stop singing that Lola song to me, and made me laugh so hard. And you know that song will always make me think of you."
