Christina Applegate reveals new health struggle after MS misdiagnosis: 'Back at square one'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Christina Applegate is facing another difficult chapter in her health journey after learning that she was misdiagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS).
The actress, who believed she had been living with the condition since 2021, is now undergoing tests to find out what is causing her symptoms. During a recent episode of her podcast, 'MeSsy', Applegate also opened up about the emotional toll of losing a diagnosis that had shaped her life for years.

Christina Applegate undergoes tests for other health conditions
On the November 3 episode of 'MeSsy', which she co-hosts with Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Applegate discussed her latest medical updates while speaking with guest Jack Osbourne. She explained that doctors are now investigating other conditions that can cause symptoms similar to those of MS.
“We’re going in to square one, just doing some testing and going one by one of kind of the sister diseases to MS,” she said. The actress named rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and Lyme disease as some of the conditions doctors are checking for.
“You’ve got RA (rheumatoid arthritis), and you’ve got lupus and Lyme disease and all these things that kind of can mimic MS,” she explained. “So, now I’m being tested for all that stuff, slowly but surely.”

Applegate, 54, revealed in October that her doctor had told her she did not have MS, despite receiving the diagnosis in 2021.
Apart from the physical challenges, Applegate admitted that adjusting to life without the diagnosis has been difficult. She explained that MS had become a major part of her identity, making it hard to process the change.
Christina Applegate vows to fight for the MS community despite misdiagnosis
During the October 27 episode of her 'MeSsy' podcast, Applegate said, “Even though I don’t have this disease, I’ve fallen in love with everyone that we know, our listeners, our friends that have MS."
"I’m still your warrior, and I’m still going to speak out on your behalf forever and ever. Despite not having MS, I still feel like part of this community. No matter what, I love you."
During the same podcast episode, she also opened up about how everyday tasks have become increasingly difficult for her over the years.

“I actually timed it today; it took me 10 minutes to be able to move off my pillow and get out of the bed and stand up, at which point I almost couldn’t walk to the bathroom, and now a walker is sitting next to my bed because of what’s going on. I don’t know what’s going on," she shared.
