BARNEGAT, NEW JERSEY: Christopher Gregor, 31, currently on trial for the tragic death of his son Corey Micciolo, allegedly exhibited callous behavior during the child's final moments in the emergency room.

Testimony from his trial revealed that Gregor left the emergency room while medical staff desperately tried to save Corey's life, leaving the six-year-old boy to die in the presence of strangers rather than family.

Hospital staff reveals disturbing detail

Nurse Lindsay Carnevale, who was among the medical professionals treating Corey at Southern Ocean County Medical Center, testified that Gregor appeared emotionless upon bringing Corey to the hospital and left the boy alone for a period before briefly returning and then leaving again.

“We were the only ones with him,” testified Lindsay.

Corey, who had exhibited troubling symptoms including slurred speech, difficulty breathing, and nausea, was pronounced dead at 5.02 pm on April 2, 2021.

Distressing footage shows Christopher Gregor forcing son to run on treadmill

Tragically, Corey's death followed a disturbing incident just over a week prior, in which Gregor allegedly forced his son to run on a treadmill at a local gym until the child collapsed multiple times.

Corey's mother, Bre Micciolo, reported the injuries sustained by Corey during this incident to authorities, leading to his hospitalization on April 1.

The harrowing surveillance footage, captured at the Atlantic Heights Clubhouse fitness center, depicts Corey repeatedly falling off the treadmill, while Gregor continues to lift him back on. Reports indicate Gregor even appeared to bite his son on the back of the head before forcing him to resume running.

During Corey's hospital visits, he disclosed to doctors that his father compelled him to run on the treadmill because he felt he was "too fat," reported New York Post.

The subsequent medical examinations and autopsy revealed severe injuries, including "blunt force trauma" to his chest and abdomen, lacerations, contusions to vital organs, and signs of chronic abuse, ultimately leading to the ruling of Corey's death as a homicide.

Gregor now faces serious charges, including murder, with the potential of 30 years to life in prison if convicted.
