Christopher Walken reveals why he does not have any big plans for his upcoming birthday next month
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Christopher Walken said he does not have any significant plans for his 81st birthday next month. The Academy Award winner spoke to People at 'Dune: Part Two' New York City premiere on Sunday, February 25, at Lincoln Center. The 80-year-old Hollywood actor revealed how he intends to celebrate the special occasion on March 31.
"Stay home. Stay home," Walken said when asked whether he plans to do anything special for his upcoming birthday. It was previously confirmed by the outlet that in May 2022, Walken had been cast in 'Dune: Part Two' in the role of Emperor Shaddam IV alongside a star-studded cast including Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh and Rebecca Ferguson.
Christopher Walken does not have any advice for his young 'Dune' co-stars
Even though 'The Deer Hunter' star has years of experience in the film industry, he seemingly does not have any advice for his younger 'Dune: Part Two' co-stars. "The only advice I would give anybody is you always make sure you wear your seatbelt," Walken told the outlet on Sunday's NYC premiere.
"Everybody was nice. I knew some of them. I was only there for a few weeks. It was very nice," he added of his castmates being "nervous and so excited" to meet him.
Florence Pugh on working with Christopher Walken
Walken's remarks come after Florence Pugh, who plays his onscreen daughter Princess Irulan in the film, spoke about what it was like performing alongside the Hollywood legend.
While admitting that their scenes were "intense," Pugh said during an appearance on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' earlier this month, "He's surprisingly silly. In between takes, he would be talking to me about his favorite kind of doughnuts." "I'd be like, jam-filled obviously," Pugh joked, adding, "And then, we would go into another take of a really serious scene."
'Dune: Part Two' is the sequel to its first part and according to the official synopsis, the film, based on Frank Herbert's 1965 novel of the same name, "will explore the mythic journey of Paul Atreides [Chalamet] as he unites with Chani [Zendaya] and the Fremen while on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family."
"Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee," the synopsis continues. 'Dune: Part Two' is scheduled to premiere on March 1, 2024.
