WASHINGTON, DC: Minority Leader Chuck Schumer took a jab at President Donald Trump on Wednesday, December 3, on the affordability crisis and said that the POTUS is "in such an effing bubble".

Trump harshly criticized Democrats' record on inflation during a Cabinet meeting earlier this week, and accused them of using "affordability" as a political ploy while ignoring soaring prices.

Chuck Schumer says Trump doesn't know what average people go through

During an interview with MS NOW's Lawrence O'Donnell on Wednesday, the host told Chuck Schumer, "I have to quote to you something that Donald Trump said today. He said affordability is the greatest con job. That is what Donald Trump said today. He believes affordability does not matter."

"He is in such an effing bubble. He doesn't even know what average people go through. He is a billionaire. He doesn't worry about paying for groceries. I don't know if he has ever been to a grocery store," Schumer said.

"He doesn't care about his electricity bills. He doesn't care about his healthcare, but Donald Trump, the average American does, and they hold you accountable for not helping. Democrats are fighting to help, and Trump and Republicans are not," the House Minority Leader added.

Speaking from the White House on Tuesday, December 2, President Trump claimed that Democrats had intentionally misled Americans during the 2024 campaign by focusing on affordability.

He said, "The word affordability is a Democrat scam", adding, "The word affordability is a con job by the Democrats".

"They say it, and then they go into the next subject, and everyone thinks, ‘Oh, they had lower prices.’ No, they had the worst inflation in the history of our country," the POTUS mentioned.

Moreover, Trump insisted that his administration "stopped inflation in its tracks" over the past year, but acknowledged that progress has been uneven.

Hakeem Jeffries says Trump’s whole life is 'a scam'

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) took a dig at President Donald Trump and said his whole life is "a scam" after the POTUS shared his take on affordability.

During an interview with MS NOW, host Chris Hayes asked Jeffries, “I want to ask you about the health care system, but since you mentioned affordability, I want to play you what the president said about the word affordability.”

During the segment, Chris Hayes played a clip of Donald Trump from Tuesday's Cabinet meeting at the White House, where the POTUS said "the word affordability is a scam".

Hayes then asked Hakeem Jeffries, "I imagine you disagree, but what do you mean by that word when you say it?"

Jeffries responded, "Well, listen, Donald Trump’s whole life is a scam. The Trump administration is a scam. And certainly, the so-called House Republican majority is a scam. These people promised that they were going to lower costs on day one, right?"

"They provided the measuring stick. They made that promise to the American people. And of course, costs aren’t going down, costs are going up. The Trump tariffs are creating a crisis in affordability, thousands of dollars in additional expense for everyday Americans in terms of goods and groceries," the House Minority Leader mentioned.
