LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: CJ Snare, the lead singer and keyboardist of hard rock band FireHouse, which had two Top 10 singles in the early 1990s, has died "'unexpectedly" at 64.

The band shared the news of Snare’s death on Sunday, April 7 in a statement on the official Firehouse Facebook page.

The statement as per the FB page read, "Today is a sad day for Rock N Roll." It added, “It is with great sorrow we are letting the world know we have lost our brother: CJ Snare, the rock and roll warrior, lead vocalist, and a founding member of Firehouse.”

The statement says the singer who was all eager as he expected to return to touring this summer, following recovery from abdominal surgery "passed unexpectedly” at his home on  Friday, April 5 night. 

As per Billboard, in October, Snare updated fans on Instagram that he’d undergone surgery, and that it was “time to recover and get back to the stage.”

After signing with Epic Records in 1989, Firehouse had two top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 in the early ’90s with power ballads 'Love of a Lifetime' in 1991 and 'When I Look Into Your Eyes' in 1992.

Firehouse’s statement on Snare’s death ended with condolences “to the entire Snare family, Katherine Little, friends, and all our beloved fans all over the world. ‘Reach for the Sky’ CJ! You will be forever missed by family, friends, fans and your band mates. You’re singing with the angels now.”

Snare was with his long-time partner Katherine Little since 2015. He leaves behind three children, two sons and a daughter.

Apart from the Firehouse family, several social media users left their heartfelt tributes through comments on various portals.

An Instagram user wrote, "May you rest in peace, thank you for making such amazing music. It was a honor to see you live last year. Fly high." 

The next user said, "Thank you for all of the childhood memories with those first 2 records. Thank you for always giving us your all, we will all always remember your legacy. Rip CJ." 

The next user said, "Your music literally made my youth the best 'don't treat me bad' was probably played 35785327 X by my best friends and we rocked it it's one of the greatest

songs ever." 

Another user said, "Rest im peace my friend! Keep singing in heaven, you'll truly be missed by everyone whose heart was touched by your music. Reach for the sky!!

Another user said, "just heard. Awful news! Rest in peace my friend." The next user said, "Thanks for the great music and vocals rest in peace." 

Another user said, "Much love to ya bro.Keep singing in heaven."
