LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Beyonce made history at the 2025 Grammy Awards, becoming the first Black woman in over two decades to win Album of the Year. Her latest project, 'Cowboy Carter', secured her yet another golden trophy, adding to her record-breaking collection but not everyone was celebrating.

Conservative commentator Clay Travis took to social media to voice his frustration, claiming that Beyonce’s Grammy dominance was a result of industry politics rather than musical merit.

In a video posted on X (formerly Twitter), Travis expressed disbelief over the fact that Beyonce now holds eight more Grammys than Michael Jackson and Taylor Swift combined.

“This is insanity,” he stated. “Beyonce is legit the most overrated musician of all time.”

He went on to argue that the Grammys should reward the best in music, suggesting that Beyonce’s continued success wasn’t purely based on talent. He specifically took issue with her recognition in the country music genre, implying that her win was driven by diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives rather than artistic achievement.

He went even further, calling her Grammy win a “DEI-focused award” and insisting that rather than facing discrimination, Beyonce has actually been celebrated more than any other artist for being a Black woman.

Clay Travis didn’t hold back, arguing that anyone with basic musical knowledge could see there’s no real comparison between Michael Jackson’s 'Thriller' and Beyonce’s 'Cowboy Carter.'

Clay Travis calls Beyonce ‘most overrated musician’ after Grammy wins, and fans agree

Internet backed his claim, with one writing, "Let me fix this for you. Beyonce bought the Grammy for country album of the year."

Another added, "At least Taylor Swift has a bunch of hits. I can name like one Beyonce song."

Critics of her win took aim at the genre crossover, "I couldn’t tell you one of Beyonce’s songs. My how Country Music has fallen."

Others kept it blunt, "ABSOLUTELY OVERRATED." One user even tied it to politics, saying, "Beyonce was overrated by Kamala, and look how that worked out for her."

Another simply called it an "absolute joke."
