WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump escalated his ongoing feud with Democratic leaders, warning that he could ask FIFA to move upcoming World Cup matches out of Boston and even shift the 2028 Olympics from Los Angeles based on the policies of elected Democrats.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, October 14 Trump took aim at Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, calling her “not good” and claiming she’s “hurting” the city ahead of it hosting seven World Cup matches.

“If somebody is doing a bad job, and if I feel there are unsafe conditions, I would call (FIFA President Gianni Infantino) … and I would say, let’s move it to another location,” he said. “Boston better clean up their act.”

Trump says Olympics location will be changed if Gavin Newsom fails ‘to get his act together’

Trump didn’t stop with FIFA. He extended his warnings to the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, saying he could pressure the International Olympic Committee to shift the games if  “LA was not going to be prepared properly.”

He directed his ire especially at California Governor Gavin Newsom, warning, “We’re going to have to be very tough with him.”

“I’d say the same thing for the Olympics because, you know, we have events in different locations. It’s based in Los Angeles. If I thought LA was not going to be prepared properly, I would move it to another location if I had to. On that one, I’d probably have to get a different kind of permission, but we would do that,” Trump said.

He mentioned the Los Angeles fire and reminded that they needed his support to extinguish the fire.

“Gavin Newsom, he’s got to get his act together. Had we not gone in at the beginning of my term with a very strong, powerful force, they would have lost LA. You already lost 25,000 houses to fires. You’ve got a big scar right in the middle of the city, and that should never have happened,” he said.

Further he added, “So if he doesn’t play ball, we’re going to have to be very tough with him. He’s done a bad job. When we went in, we did a phenomenal job- went in with great force, and that was the end of it. We put it out. We extinguished that fire, which was a very dangerous situation.”
