MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN: Former President Donald Trump's acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention was likened by several political pundits and journalists to Fidel Castro's speech patterns.

Castro, who breathed his last in 2016, was known for his protracted speeches. In 1960, he spoke at the United Nations for four hours and twenty-nine minutes. During his primetime nomination acceptance speech on Thursday, July 18, which lasted past midnight, Trump spoke for approximately 92 minutes. "Somewhere in hell, Fidel Castro is jealous," CNN's Paul Begala said Friday.

MSNBC host Alex Wagner says Donald Trump's RNC speech was 'castrolean in length'

"This was Castrolean in length," MSNBC host Alex Wagner said on Thursday. "Michael Beschloss pointed out that [former Soviet Premier Nikita] Khrushchev and Castro tended to give long stem-winders, kind of incoherent ones, as they were aging, and it's symptomatic of a party that indulges in a cult of personality that has put all its chips on the persona of one individual and their frailties and strengths."

MSNBC host Joy Reid even googled Castro's longest speech during Donald Trump's nomination

Joy Reid, host of MSNBC, said that, to compare, she looked up the length of Castro's longest speech from Donald Trump's nomination remarks on Google.

"He didn't quite get there," Reid said of Trump's speech length. "7 hours and 10 minutes at the Communist Party conference in Havana in 1986."

Some political commentators also drew comparisons between Donald Trump and Fidel Castro

Some political pundits responded on social media by citing Castro's lengthy, convoluted speech pattern throughout history in response to Trump's speech.

"ChatGPT, produce a speech of Donald Trump rambling with random anecdotes and shout outs to the crowd that lasts longer than the average Fidel Castro speech circa 1975," Lincoln Project co-founder Rick Wilson wrote on Thursday.

Donald Trump's campaign communications director Steven Cheung called out MSNBC

Fox News received a statement from Steven Cheung, the director of communications for the Trump campaign, criticizing MSNBC's coverage of the former president's speech.

"These idiots either have a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome or [are too] stupid to realize what an inspiring speech President Trump gave at the convention," Cheung said.

"But we shouldn't expect more from dumba** who weren't even at the convention and tried to deceive viewers by reporting from a television set in New York that was made to look like they were in Milwaukee," he wrote.

This week, MSNBC's top hosts, including Rachel Maddow, covered the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee from the network's liberal studio in New York City using an LED screen. But there were other reporters and hosts from the network on the spot.

Internet slams the left after CNN and MSNBC compared Donald Trump to Fidel Castro

Netizens lashed out at the two media organizations for comparing the former US president's speech with Fidel Castro.

Castro, who was a dictator of Cuba, is considered one of the most popular communist leaders around the world and reportedly played a significant role in overthrowing US influence from his country in the late 1950s and early 60s.

One X user commented, "The left always held Castro in high regard, he was a hero to them."

Another added, "The left will lose numerous elections after all of their nonsense. What’s the likely they even learn anything from it."

"The end of the Democrat Party is near. Marxism can’t exist without propaganda and censorship," remarked one while someone else penned, "I thought the left worshiped the memory of Fidel."

"Liberal media is running scared they’re about to be held accountable from all of their lies," echoed one user.
