Cops found dozens of pills near Anne Burrell’s body after she was found ‘unresponsive’ in her NY home

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK: The investigation into the sudden death of celebrity chef Anne Burrell has taken a dramatic turn with the emergence of new details surrounding the scene.
Burrell, a beloved Food Network personality, was found dead in her Brooklyn home on Tuesday, June 17, at the age of 55.
According to a New York Post report published Thursday, June 19, authorities allegedly discovered "dozens of pills" near her body, raising further questions about the circumstances of her death.

According to law enforcement sources cited by New York Post, a "large quantity of unknown pills" were discovered near the place where Anne Burrell died. A separate source told the outlet that the quantity of pills found was in the "dozens."
Earlier reports revealed that Burrell was discovered unresponsive by her husband, Stuart Claxton, who found her lying on the shower floor early Tuesday morning.
Claxton is said to have last seen his wife alive around 1 am that night. He reportedly found her unconscious approximately six to seven hours later in their bathroom.
Claxton called 911 and was reportedly instructed by the dispatcher to begin CPR. However, reports suggest Burrell’s body was cold when discovered, and it remains unclear whether CPR was attempted.

The 911 call pointed to a potential cardiac arrest, which was confirmed by the New York Fire Department. Emergency responders were dispatched at 7:50 am. Tuesday, in response to the reported medical emergency.
Police found Burrell unresponsive at her Brooklyn residence. The NYPD confirmed officers had responded to a call regarding a 55-year-old woman who was "unconscious and unresponsive." She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The official cause of death has yet to be determined, pending findings from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The investigation remains ongoing.
Celebrities and friends of Anne Burrell pay tribute online after her death
Gigi Hadid, who once appeared alongside Anne Burrell on the cooking competition Beat Bobby Flay, was among the many celebrities mourning the beloved chef’s unexpected death.
“'I am heartbroken to hear of the loss of the Great Anne Burrell,” the 30-year-old supermodel shared. She included a photo of the two from their 2023 appearance on the show.

“As a longtime fan, getting to share this day with her was a dream come true,” Hadid wrote. “Beat Bobby. Hang. Eat.I wish we could have done it again. She was awesome. Rest in Peace Legend.”
Chef Carla Hall, known for her time on Top Chef and the Food Network, remembered Burrell as both a gifted chef and a dedicated mentor, calling her an “incredible cook and teacher," as per DailyMail.
TV personality and close friend Carson Kressley, of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy fame, revealed he had spoken to Burrell just days before her death. He paid tribute on Instagram, posting a photo of the two together.
