Courtney Cox says she has 'learned to say no'

The 'Friends' actress revealed that she often grappled with when to intervene in her 19-year-old daughter's life.

While recognizing the significance of setting boundaries, Cox also acknowledged her past hesitations and expressed a desire to have been a firmer parent, according to People.

"I should have [trusted] myself and I should have stepped in," she said.

"I'm not saying I made her who she is, but you do see things in other people, whether it's just always taking care of people and being the nicest person," she added. "And I mean, that's one of the things with age, I've learned to say no, I've learned to have boundaries."

"But I mean, earlier on when she was a kid or not even that many years ago, I wish I'd been a firmer parent," she shared.

"People will say, 'Why do you let Coco wear so much makeup?' She's been wearing makeup forever, that is a self-expression for her," she explained.

"She loves to dress up. She will dye her hair, it was purple a week ago, I think right now it's blonde underneath before it was blue," Cox continued.

She even shared that her daughter dyes her hair so often that "we've ruined the bathroom 1,000 times."

Courtney Cox says parents should let their kids 'be themselves with boundaries'

Cox emphasized the need for parents to support their children's individuality, even while navigating through messy situations.

"I think we just have to let them be themselves with boundaries, of course. I am not great at boundaries. I have to get better at it," she said.

Cox previously posted a heartfelt video of herself playing the piano while Coco sang a cover of Taylor Swift's 2020 song 'Cardigan' while musician Joel Taylor played the guitar.

"Happy Early Mother's Day to all those out there who are mothers, have been mothers, will be mothers, or love like mothers," she captioned the post.
