MANHATTAN, NEW YORK CITY: During a recent episode of 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!', host Jimmy Kimmel took a deep dive into former President Donald Trump's remarks on abortion, unveiling the intricate political maneuvering at play.

Trump's departure from the Republican Party's steadfast anti-abortion position has ignited a flurry of backlash from within his own party, notably from influential figures like Senator Lindsey Graham.

Kimmel questions GOP's abortion rift as calculated move

Employing a comparison to professional wrestling, Kimmel equated the political jockeying between Trump and his Republican counterparts to a choreographed match, emphasizing the scripted nature of their interactions.

"It’s like wrestling, but with guys who, if you saw them in their underpants, you would throw up," quipped Kimmel during his monologue.

He underscored that the division between Trump and anti-abortion Republicans could potentially serve as a calculated tactic to attract pro-choice voters, recognizing the electoral ramifications of staunch anti-abortion positions.

Kimmel's skepticism regarding the genuineness of the rift within the party aligns with the observations of political analysts, who note that evangelical voters are cognizant of the strategic maneuvers of Trump.

Kimmel highlighted, "Trump appointed three of those judges to the Supreme Court, which led to overturning Roe V. Wade, but now he’s saying he’s not for a federal law against abortion, he thinks the decision should be left to the states".

"Trump believes that every woman should have the right to drive 600 miles for health care. And this is now upsetting a lot of his supporters, including Senator Lindsey Graham," he added.

Kimmel also noted Mike Pence's criticism, remarking on Trump's lack of response. "I think he’s scared of Mike Pence," Kimmel concluded.

The fuss started because of a video Trump made recently where he talked about abortion in a more detailed way. He didn't stick to the strict ban on abortion that most Republicans espouse. Instead, he showed a different view.

This change seems like Trump is trying to move away from very strict anti-abortion rules. It looks like he's doing this because lots of Americans support the right to have an abortion.
