SAINT PAUL, MINNESOTA: Former President Donald Trump came up with yet another false claim about the 2020 presidential election result while campaigning for his reelection bid.

Speaking at the Minnesota GOP dinner in St Paul on Friday, May 17, the soon-to-be official Republican nominee falsely said he won Minnesota in 2016 and 2020 despite the state voting for Democrats since 1976 in every presidential election, according to NBC News.

"I thought we won it in 2016. I thought we won it in 20 — I know we won it in 2020," claimed Trump, adding, "We got to watch those votes."

In reality, President Joe Biden won the North Star State in 2020, securing 52.4% of the total votes with a margin of more than 233,000 votes. In 2016, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton narrowly won Minnesota with 46.9% votes while Trump garnered 45.4%.

Biden campaign denounces Donald Trump's claims

Further into the speech, Trump said he would "win this state" in the November election as he prepares for a rematch with Biden.

Responding to the claims, Biden campaign spokesperson James Singer called out the 45th president for being "unhinged about his 2020 loss."

"In 2020, Joe Biden beat him by 7 million votes, including by more than 230,000 in Minnesota — and this November Joe Biden is going to beat him again because Americans deserve better than a weak, desperate, and pathetic loser like Donald Trump as their commander in chief," read a statement from Singer.

President Biden also recently took a swipe at his successor's refusal to accept the 2020 election results. Speaking at a private fundraiser in Washington last week, the president said Trump was "clearly unhinged" and "something snapped" in him after his loss in 2020.

This is not the first time Trump argued he won Minnesota in 2020. In an interview with KSTP on Wednesday, the ex-POTUS said, "I thought I won in 2020 easily."

In April, Trump made a similar argument about winning Wisconsin in the 2020 election. "We won this state by a lot. It came out that we won this," said the MAGA spearhead at a rally.

In reality, he had lost the state to Biden by over 20,000 votes. Having said that, in 2016, Trump did win in Wisconsin, making history as the first Republican to flip the state red since Ronald Reagan in 1984.

Internet slams Donald Trump as he claims he won Minnesota in 2020 and 2016

Netizens denounced Trump for falsely claiming he won Minnesota in the previous two presidential elections.

One said, "This man is dangerous and delusional," and another remarked, "So tired of the lies from a malignant narcissist…"

A person wrote, "He's confused thinks elections are like golf....low score wins," while someone else noted, "Pathological liar Trump or senile Trump, the end result is the same: the country needs to be rid of him."

"Why does Trump claim he won Minnesota twice when everyone knows that he lost it twice? Because his Narcissistic Personality Disorder is getting worse," fumed an individual.

One more expressed, "He lies about his losses. He whines about imaginary enemies. What he never does is talk about his plans for America. Because he’s an ignoramus who understands nothing and has no plans."

"Trump lies each time he opens his mouth," mentioned another person, with a netizen adding, "Minnesota, especially Minneapolis hates him. The lies ramp up."
